Hi all! We have currently been looking at Hermes for the svefaktura concept, http://www.svefaktura.se/ <http://www.svefaktura.se/> (there are docs = in english if you look down the left side) This is actually more of a web service rather than reliable messaging, = but the technical specifications do follow the ebMS 2.0 specification. Hello hermes developers,
We did have and issue related to the length of the DB field
ATTRIBUTE_REMOTE_HOST in hermes database. We use sub domains in our
project. It means that total length of host name is longer than 32
characters. We fixed the problem by expansion to 127 characters
Is it possible to expand it in CVS of hermes?
private static final DbColumn COLUMN_REMOTE_HOST =
new DbColumn(ATTRIBUTE_REMOTE_HOST, Types.VARCHAR, 32, false);
in the class DbTableManager
Thanx a lot

My configuration:
WebLogic 8.1 + MSH Hermes 1.0 + MS SQL Serwer 2000 (another machine)
I have only 512 MB RAM <- probably there is problem
Now, I've installed Tomcat 4 and all works fine.
But Tomcat must be installed on partition C:
When Tomcat was install on D:, Hermes not started (error 10001 -
Initialization error - cannot create <path>/ObjectStore)
Another question:
There is limitations on size payload
when I send attachments < 1MB is OK but,
when I send attachments > 1MB I've got "RequestException while sending:
Message containing larger payloads than allowed."
Thanks
Tomasz
Can you see any error messages in the log file at the Hermes server side?

Hi Zaiwen, Actually MSH Monitor is a sample application for you to grab the idea on=20 how to write a Hermes client. It is not an "official" tool for doing=20 configuration. So, you can write your own program which fits your need.=20 The API to configure CPA ID and all those information is by creating a=20 Request object. Hi:
I hava a question to consult with you. When we use Hermes MSH
1.0 to transport messages between two parties, we need to config some
options such as CPA ID, conversation ID, Action, etc. in order to
assure normal interoperability between two parties in electronic
bussiness.I usually config them in MSH client application - MSH
monitor. Would you be kind to tell me how I config these options in
the case that I don't start up the MSH monitor? thanks!

Hi,
I want to use an http application with msh....but it seems i don't receive
any message... (onMessage method...)
(the doPost and doGet method don't receive messages)
For this :
1 . i create a ClientServlet like this :
public class ClientServlet extends HttpServlet
implements MessageListener {
public void init(ServletConfig config ) ...{
super.init(config) ;
ApplicationContext appCont = new ApplicationContext(
"AZE_2005", *, *, *) ;
Request mshReq = new Reques( appCont,
new URL(mshServerUrl),
this,
"http",
Request.DEFAULT_RETRIES,
Request.DEFAULT_RETRY_INTERVAL,
Request.SYNC_REPLY_NODE_SIGNALS_AND_RESPONSE,
Request.DEFAULT_MESSAGE_ORDER_SEMANTICS,
Request.DEFAULT_PERSIST_DURATION) ;
}
public void onMessage( EbXmlMessage msg ) {
System.out.println( "clientServlet.onMessage" ) ;
}
public URL getClientUrl( ) {
return new URL (clientServletUrl) ;
}
...
2 . i create a Client for sending messages like this: (like LoobBack
sample)
EbxmlMessage msg = new EbxmlMessage() ;
MessageHeader head = msg.addMessageHeader() ;
head.addFromPartyId( "fromPartyId", "fromSample");
head.addToPartyId( "toPartyId" , "toSample");
head.setCpaID( "AZE_2005");
head.setConversationId( "item1");
head.setService( "http://www.cecid.hku.hk/ebxml/service");
head.setAction( "Order");
head.setTimestamp( Utility.toUTCString(new Date() ));
head.setMessageId( Utility.generateMessageId( new Date(), message)
) ;
... // add the payload also....
msg.saveChanges() ;
SendRequest rq = new SendRequest() ;
rq.send(msg, "http://localhost:8080/msh") ;
I launch msh server and my ClientServlet then the send message tool...
- The ClientServlet application is registered (in database and in
mshConnectionTable)
- The applicationContext is found when the message is received
but......... ClientServlet don't receive a message ...(it's active ..
tested with the url http://localhost:8010/clientServlet
Any idea ?
How can i implement this model referenced in "development guide 2.2" ?
Thx,
Pascal

Hi Wahid, basically, you have two options, and you may mix them..: 1. using wildcards in the ac. Any of the four ac parameters (cpaid, conversationid, service,action), will take "*" to mean "anything", so you may listen e.g. regardless of the conversationid, which comes in handy if your bus.partner is starting conversations. 2. You could create an array of Requests, each with a different ac, but all marking 'this' as the listener. In that case you'ld receive messages for all the ac's. You'll need to inspect the message to decide which one you're handling. --Gait. Patrick, Thanks for that.... It makes sense... however... Am I right I saying I need to create a request object for the messages I want to receive? If so, what happens if I am expecting to receive different messages of different actions... how do I know which one to listen out for? Do I have to create multiple request objects??? At the moment I set up the request object for the outgoing message: Request mshReq = new Request(ac, new URL(toMshUrl), this, transportType,1,"3000",Constants.SYNC_REPLY_MODE_SIGNALS_AND_RESPONSE ,false,"3000"); Obviously this is using the current instance of the application to listen to this message? How would I go about listening to a possible array of messages? Thanks Wahid Message: 1 Date: Mon, 05 Sep 2005 17:57:02 +0800 From: Patrick Yee <kc...@ce...> To: ebx...@li... Patrick, I found out that the problem was due to the fact that I had not put an entry into MessageConfig table of the database for incoming messages.... After correcting this I get an entry in the database (ReceievedMessages and MessageStore tables) however..... The OnMessage event in the application is not getting invoked.... I can't understand this... why wouldn't it get invoked, even though the message is in the database and has been received? So you got the message listener working in HTTP mode, right? Actually, when you can see the messages being arrived in Hermes database. There would be no further processing difference between HTTP and HTTPS. So you can try to use your old message listener and see if it works. ..p Regards, Patrick Yee Center for E-Commerce Infrastructure Development Making E-Commerce Everyday Commerce Wahid Muhammad wrote: >Im still getting the same problem..... > >Messages are coming in but the Hermes instance doesn't seem to pick on the >fact that a message has been received. > >Can anyone help? > >Thanks > >Wahid >-----Original Message----- >From: Wahid Muhammad >Sent: 04 August 2005 09:21 >To: 'ebx...@li...' >Subject: Re: Message Listener Not WORKING!!!! > >Patrick, > >There was a discrepancy with the CN name, which I have now corrected... that means you received a message with the below settings, but you have
not registered a listener that is willing to pick it up.
You'll need to create and register a listener to pick it up. It doesn't
need to run continuously (once registered, Hermes will keep it for you
until it expires and deliver when the listener is started).
Note: you can use wildcards ("*") for the ApplicationContext parameters
to allow for catchall/catchmany behaviour.
Here's a snippet of a listener that you might use (reusing a handler I
called reflector)..
import hk.hku.cecid.phoenix.message.handler.*;
import hk.hku.cecid.phoenix.message.packaging.*;
public class reflector implements MessageListener {
private Request mshReq = null;
public static void main(String[] args) {
reflector reflector = new reflector();
reflector.run(args);
}
public void run(String[] args) {
try {
System.out.println("Reflector setting up...");
String cpaID = "S1633A8751";
String conversationID = "*";
String service = "urn:nhs:names:services:mm";
String action = "PORX_IN260101UK04";
ApplicationContext ac =
new ApplicationContext(cpaID, conversationID, service,
action);
String transportType = "HTTP";
String toMshUrl = "http://localhost:8080/msh/";
mshReq = new Request(
ac, new URL(toMshUrl), this, transportType,
Request.DEFAULT_RETRIES, Request.DEFAULT_RETRY_INTERVAL,
Request.SYNC_REPLY_MODE_SIGNALS_ONLY,
Request.DEFAULT_MESSAGE_ORDER_SEMANTICS,
Request.DEFAULT_PERSIST_DURATION );
System.out.println(
"Reflector set up complete, listening forever...");
while (true) {
Thread.sleep(1000);
}
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
/*
try {
if (mshReq != null) {
mshReq.unregister();
}
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
*/
}
public URL getClientUrl() {
return null;
}
public void onMessage(EbxmlMessage ebxmlMessage) {
try {
System.out.println(
"Reflector received a message, id = "
+ ebxmlMessage.getMessageId());
/* Do something useful here */
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}

I have had this problem with recieiving messages.... I have just noticed that the logs are telling me: [10012] Unknown application context - (CPAId)=S1633A8751, (ConversationId)=0AB350F0-714B-11D9-8D06-001143D115F2, (Service)=urn:nhs:names:services:mm, (Action)=PORX_IN260101UK04 What exactly does this mean, and how can I solve it? As I think this is stopping the message handler from receiving the messages. Thanks Wahid |
