Ladislav, The issue we have is that we have to continue with Hermes 1.1. Cannot upgrade now. Hermes 1.1 works just fine with Java 4. If I just set my windows system environment JAVA_HOME to point to JDK 1.4 folder, Hermes 1.1 works just fine. But if I change the JAVA_HOME property to my JDK 5 installation folder (With nothing else changed), it throws me those SOAP message envelope exceptions as I sent you earlier. I would love to know if anyone has already gone through this exercise and made Hermes 1.1 work with JDK 5 (or found that it will not work). If it works, of course we will spend time and figure it out. But if there is some fundamental reason why this will not work (incompatible libraries?), I could learn about that too.=20 Thanks, ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Ashique Tanveer Contractor, eRA, National Institute of Health Booz | Allen | Hamilton=20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- (301) 451-1772 (Office) (240) 354-8072 (Mobile) (925) 889-3635 (Fax) tan...@ba..., tan...@od... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- > -----Original Message----- > From: Ladislav Urban [mailto:lad...@we...] > Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 1:18 PM > To: Tanveer, Ashique (NIH/OD) [C]; ebxmlms-develop > Subject: RE: Hermes and Java 1.5? >=20 > We are currently using Hermes 2. Hello all, we have recently released new version of Webswell Connect integration tool under GPL. It includes Hermes 2 ebxml and AS2 message service handler, dispatcher and ebXML Registry/Repository version 3.0. As always it includes installer based on IzPack and all supporting SW such as Tomcat and PostgreSQL database. We have completed tests on various linux platforms and we will continue with Windows tests. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=167017&package_id=203893 -- Ladislav Urban CEO Webswell Inc. 1333 Howe Avenue, Suite 100 Sacramento, 95825 CA email: lad...@we... phone: +1 (916) 290-2040 fax: +1 (916) 921-2850 http://www.webswell.com |

I realized there is no endorsed directory under by ..../jre/lib under J2se 5 installation. Did you add those libraries? If you could send me the zip of the endorsed directory, I could unzip and place it there, if that would help. Hello Wahid,
I guess you have to modify the following hardcode string at
EbxmlMessage.java:
public final static String SOAP_ACTION_VALUE = "ebXML";
change it to :
public final static String SOAP_ACTION_VALUE = "<the value you need>";
This would give you a hardcoded, modified Hermes. But if you want to
make it configurable at runtime, you will need to design some APIs,
which is far more complicated.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I asked this question a little while back but never solved it. The
implementation we are using now requires to change the SOAP Action value of
the MIME header. Currently Hermes V1 has a hardcode value of 'ebxml' in the
EbxmlMessage.class file. After changing this value manually our
implementation works, however we need to be able to change this dynamically.
I have tried to change the SOAP_ACTION_VALUE variable from a constant to a
public string and setting its value on the constructor:
public EbxmlMessage(String sAction) throws SOAPException
{
this(MessageFactory.newInstance());
SOAP_ACTION_VALUE = sAction;
this.soapMessage.getMimeHeaders().setHeader(SOAP_ACTION,
sAction);
}
The above has no effect what so ever. This seemed to be such a simple
solution but is proving quite difficult! I cant believe Hermes V1 has no way
changing this value dynamically as this has become a major and essential
part of our implementation.
So what am I doing wrong and how can I solve this?
Thanks,
Wahid

<div>Ladislav,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>At this point we are suspecting some of the old code we inherited on
the project that is interfacing with Hermes 1.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>To be sure though - we're just trying to see if anyone else had sent
a really large payload 30MB+ across Hermes 1 and see that it takes upto
30+ minutes to send? Typically with a fast link - we'd expect it
to take only 3+ minutes to send.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If someone else is able to verify that for us - using just bare
Hermes 1 <-> Hermes 1 - then we will know for sure that the issue
is somewhere in the old code that the previous contractor
implemented.</div>

<div>We've pretty much eliminated everything else at this point! We
did manage to re-build and use the new JAXM and SAAJ libraries with
Hermes 1 - but that made no difference to performance.</div>

Hi David,
we have not tried bigger payloads than 30MB. If you have several
messages about this size I would consider to look on tomcat settings and
check if tomcat (java container, OS) tries to swap.
The reason is I have not seen any size limit that would cause additional
serialization. Are there such?
