Last night I finished the user profile update and converted some of the asp.net web controls to their html counterparts as they did not display properly in Firefox. The good news now is I am ready to start the actual forum part of dnfBB, as I have next week off work, I am hoping to complete the majority, if not all, of this work. So hopefully we should be in a state where we can deliver a beta fairly soon. Simon, let me know when you've integrated the recent changes for user profile, once done we can release Alpha 3. Michael, we can make a decision about including SQL Server in the beta once you are more familiar with whats happening. It would be nice to think we could distribute 3 DBs with version 1, but it would be easy enough to make an interim release afterwards. Also, I rejigged some of the priorities again, this was more for me so I know what to concentrate on next week. I have also put another two recruitment adds up, one for Oracle, as Ghassan has not responded to my emails about his interest, and another for PostgreSQL. Rgds Si |

Hi, I'm not able to log in to CVS.SourceForge.net.. I'm in behind firewall. ( It's not possible to request to open the Firewall. ) .. I got this error "F= ATAL ERROR: Network error: Connection refused". I set the following CVSROOT. CVSRoot : :ssh:mch...@cv...:/cvsroot/dnfBB Could anyone help me? There is one way we can do, I'll download all files from CVS. and then, do my work.. After finishing, sent this file to administrator (Si Carter). Is it oki? At the moment we have the .bat files for creating databases/boards, these should be good enough for v1, however, I think we need to think ahead to creating an API and mini website with SOAP interface which will allow server admins to easily install dnfBB into a new (sub) domain, create a new board etc. One of the long term uses I envisaged for dnfBB would be where an ISP installs dnfBB, registering DotNetForum.Library.dll as a global assembly, and providing a board as a (sub) domain for each customer. To achieve this we will need to implement a small API for: 1. Initial install of dnfBB. 2. Ability to create database. 3. Ability to create new boards. 4. Ability to delete existing boards. 5. Ability to create a new virtual domain within IIS and install dnfBB web files. 6. Ability to update all installed domains with new releases. These tasks will probably need to be automated as well, so providing some sort of API is a must, I think. Rgds Si |
