Just a heads up, ive added a new column to DNFBB_TOPICS, the column is LAST_POST_USER_ID. I have also changed the sql within procedure DNF_GET_VISIBLE_TOPICS as it was returning multiple items. The last change was to trigger TR_DNFBB_POSTS_INSERT which populates the topic table with latest details. Rgds Si |

> -----Original Message----- > Ok, assign it to me and I will give it a go. :-) > Any thoughts on implementation whilst we are talking about it? I was thinking along the lines of returning the last 10 posts, visible to the user requesting the feed. This will be by forum, category or board wide. Only part of the post should be returned, along with a hyperlink to the topic within the forum. Once I have finished the post/edit post/preview post stuff I will create a bol object that will return the last 10 posts for you. Another thing to keep in mind, you can provide an RSS feed with a username and password, I havn't looked into this at all so have no idea how this side works. All the above points ive taken from my use of RSS feeds, you might want to add more stuff if required. Rgds Si |

Si, =20 I was thinking about that task before. The only problem is that I do = not have the time at the moment to take it on. I am going on a business = trip for a 7-10 days on the 3rd march. So I don't think I will be able = to get it done for the version 1 release. Also, my knowledge of rss = feeds and atom feeds is a little limited so I would have to look and = think how to do it so it wouldn't be a quick implementation from me. =20 If you are still stuck then I can have a go but as I say no quick = deadlines. =20 Cheers, =20 Simon ________________________________ From: dnf...@li... on behalf of Si = Carter Sent: Thu 23/02/2006 11:34 AM To: dnf...@li... Hello Michael, =20 If you are behind a firewall then connecting via SSH can be an issue. I = know I did have a problem a while ago but I have changed my setup and = things are working now but I can't remember what I did since it was such = a long while ago. =20 To answer your questions: =20 1) The main database file you need to modify is: dnfBB.mssql.sql. = This contains the sql commands to create the sql database. At the = moment it is a straight copy of the mysql version. Secondly, to create = the database you need to create a sql file called createboard.mssql.sql = which will create a board. The plan is to move the board creation at a = later date to a separate application. Finally, there is a batch file = called CreateSQLDB.Bat [should be called createmssqldb.bat] which calls = the relevant sql files. If you concentrate on the main dnfBB.mssql.sql = file for now it will give us chance to tidy up the batch files etc... =20 2) What are the errors you are getting? I use winCVS along with Pageant = to access the repository. Here is the link I used to set things up: = http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=3D766&group_id=3D1. = The specific section which deals with working around a firewall is: = http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=3D766&group_id=3D1#fi= rewall_config. I have attached the a copy of the .sql file to get you = going. If you are still having problems later on then drop us another = email and we can try to get you going. =20 3) There should already be a file in the DAL for MsSQL but this is again = just a copy of the mysql version along with some modified commands. = Feel free to modify this. It is really a stub which needs bringing up = to date. The way I have been doing it is to use the firebird.cs file as = the master and any changes made to this I then port over to the mysql = file. =20 I hope this help, =20 Simon ________________________________ From: dnf...@li... on behalf of Michael = Sync Sent: Thu 23/02/2006 04:19 AM To: dnf...@li... Si, I think 12 will be sufficient for the first version. Simon -----Original Message----- From: dnf...@li... [mailto:dnf...@li...] On Behalf Of Si Carter Sent: 22 February 2006 20:55 To: dnf...@li... Subject: [Dnfbb-developers] Smilies - again I was thinking of downgrading the smilies feature request (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=3Ddetail&aid=3D1363918&gr= oup _id=3D 152364&atid=3D784892). I have implemented 12 smilies already, which should suffice for version 1. This feature request would, imo, make a good minor upgrade in the future. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Si, Changes have been completed for the user profile mods. Once I have committed this current .sql file it will be available for you to release the alpha3. Simon -----Original Message----- From: dnf...@li... [mailto:dnf...@li...] On Behalf Of Si Carter Sent: 17 February 2006 12:01 To: dnf...@li... Subject: [Dnfbb-developers] A Quick update Last night I finished the user profile update and converted some of the asp.net web controls to their html counterparts as they did not display properly in Firefox. The good news now is I am ready to start the actual forum part of dnfBB, as I have next week off work, I am hoping to complete the majority, if not all, of this work. So hopefully we should be in a state where we can deliver a beta fairly soon. Simon, let me know when you've integrated the recent changes for user profile, once done we can release Alpha 3. Michael, we can make a decision about including SQL Server in the beta once you are more familiar with whats happening. It would be nice to think we could distribute 3 DBs with version 1, but it would be easy enough to make an interim release afterwards. Also, I rejigged some of the priorities again, this was more for me so I know what to concentrate on next week. I have also put another two recruitment adds up, one for Oracle, as Ghassan has not responded to my emails about his interest, and another for PostgreSQL. =20 Rgds Si ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. The session variable is currently a VARCHAR(50) and is populated via a generator. Originally I was going to buffer this out with random characters, however, thinking about it a little more we could put some useful data in there as well. Initially I was thinking about storing the IP Address of the user, is there anything else that could potentially prove useful that should be added? The format of the session will look something like: [IPADDRESS][SEPERATOR CHAR][GENERATOR VALUE + RANDOM CHARS] Rgds Si |
