DeleGate mediates communication of various protocols (HTTP, FTP, NNTP, SMTP, POP, Telnet, SOCKS, etc.), applying cache and conversion for mediated data, controlling access from clients and routing toward servers. It translates protocols between clients and servers, applying SSL(TLS) to arbitrary protocols, merging several servers into a single server view with aliasing and filtering. Born as a tiny proxy for Gopher in March 1994, it has steadily grown into a general purpose proxy server. Besides proxy, DeleGate can be used as a simple origin server for some protocols (HTTP, FTP and NNTP). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=704220&group_id=34096 |

Hi Heiko,
thanks to your help i have successfully build DL 0.6 from cvs and i get
the hostap driver (cvs too) work fine on my notebook. :-))
I have a little more job to do before releasing that work :
- test it with a pci wireless card and with the ap mod enabled (mode
master), it's my goal !
- there is two builds of the pccard driver : with or without
pcmcia-cs installed; i only tested the second version and don't know if
it is possible to integrate both as the pcmcia-cs version is compiled by
that package and the kernel version is compiled with hostap distrib. :-?
Do they both install in the same directory, with the same name??
- i had to make a new patch for pcmcia-cs-3.2.4 as the one shipped
with the hostap sources was for 3.1.34; this patch is needed during
build process if CONFIG_PCCMCIA-CS=y and is applied against pcmcia-cs
package; how to integrate it cleanly in the hostap files (for ex during
make unpack), before the build process is launched ?
- make some useful documentation (which comes with the tarball) to
copy in DL's doc dir (make install does nothing about it)
- write a mini howto about configuring a wireless card with that
driver on DL
- it seems some optionnal tools (sniffer, daemon, ...) are provided
with the driver and are not compiled with the main Makefile; i had to
evaluate their use to integrate them in the process.
I hope releasing something very soon as i'll be very busy next week .
Any comments are welcome ;-)
Regards

thttpd blew up on me in RedHat 8.0 Rather than try to fix it, I will go w/ the webmin miniserv for the time being, as I need the login page for my own config stuff. I really need to get busy w/ my uClibc install. Codepoet offers a full ext2 filesystem. I just have to integrate the DL Initrd and ISO build and then bundle it in BOCHS. There is a pretty complete list of applications on the uClbic site, and the mailing list shows no code delivered before its time. I am eagerly awaiting the promised perl portal, Metadot. The down side is that as soon as I distribute concepts, the big corps will try to patent them, despite "prior art." Much of the content is going to be theoretical and social, maybe I should offer that first and require non-disclosure agreements for architecture that goes the beyond normal linux stuff. It is too bad that people can't respect the public domain. Cheers, John ===== CXN, Inc. Contact: jo...@th... Hi all, I was trying to get apache 2.x SSL to work, ugh, bugs, contradictory documents. So I looked at thttpd - ho!! - no SSL support (does it really belong in DL then ??) Since I just installed Webmin... I created a directory for a tiny OO dataserver / html tool I created for web desktops next to the other ones and it works just fine. Since I have an OO data editor running w/ no truly effective security the password function for Webmin is ideal But.. not if you are trying to download extra packages for the harddrive or for experimental purposes. Also, if we want to download configuration -- the etc.tar.gz -- the password function has to be automated. I wouldn't even know where to start. LDAP is persistent, it just won't go away. I suggested it before so I think I will try a little DL/eLSD proof-of-concept. My configuration of choice is the transport of the complex structure. The structure is completely visable, but as soon as I figure out how, I will encrypt the data. Authentication is via MD5 challenge. A goody but oldy. I have been doing so in perl for years, my new idea is to replace the class structure w/ XML (see water) with the same embedded binary code and encrypted data. That way typical XML readers could see the structure. My OO html/data combo is designed to do this, but I can't spend my whole life working on it. Since the promised Perl web portal is a week behind delivery, I may start putting content in this tool, called DepthDB. I also have a sourceforge project by the same name, but never populated it. Damn time is hard to find, even when you are unemployed. Dang -- I really want to get BOCHS working w/ new uClibc and busybox installs. I would also like to re-awaken development on Initrd, to convert it to InitVFS. Ok, cheers folks !! ===== CXN, Inc. Contact: jo...@th... This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.5.26' of 'syslog-ng' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/syslog-ng/ The changes in this release are as follows: Some minor bugfixes were made. Project description: syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with new functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs; syslog-ng adds the possibility to filter based on message contents using regular expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive and powerful. Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding hops makes it ideal for firewalled environments. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. The binary dhcrelay (/usr/sbin/) is not there. As a workaround for my requiries I copied a binary of dhcrelay to /etc. In the start script I have this dirty hack: --- snip --- if [ ! -e /usr/sbin/dhcrelay ]; then ln -s /etc/dhcrelay /usr/sbin/dhcrelay fi --- snip --- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. The config variables are wrong: In /etc/sysconfig/config the variable START_ISC_DHCP should enable/disable the start of dhcrelay. In /etc/dhcrelay the name of this variable is: --- snip --- NAME="ISC DHCP relay agent" DAEMON=/usr/sbin/dhcrelay CONFIGNAME=DHCP_RELAY --- snip --- I changed the part of the start script where "start yes/no" is tested to: --- snip --- NAME="ISC DHCP relay agent" DAEMON=/usr/sbin/dhcrelay CONFIGNAME=ISC_DHCP --- snip --- to reflect the name used in /etc/sysconfig/config. -- R. Check out what "grep GRSECURITY *" show in the build/scripts directory. Mine is like that: $ grep GRSECURITY * grsecurity: if [ "$CONFIG_GRSECURITY" = "y" ] ; then grsecurity: if [ "$CONFIG_GRSECURITY" = "y" ] ; then grsecurity: [ "$CONFIG_XFS" = "y" ] || menu_add "Security" bool "GRSecurity Patch (enhances system security and will break XFS) CONFIG_GRSECURITY xfsprogs: [ "$CONFIG_GRSECURITY" = "y" ] || menu_add "Filesystem" bool "XFS Support" CONFIG_XFS > I posted a question concerning dir /usr/include/linux which i could not > find : it seems to "appear" in his directory after make unpack or > build, i don't know as make build automaticaly unpack sources if they're > not. > I'm a little bit disturbedabout that as your documentation talks about > renaming it to linux2 in chapter 1.2, at the begining of the process and > the directory is created at a latter time (chapter 2 i guess); it is > quite amazing for a newbie like me as you seems to give the whole > process to build in a chronological order ; by the way, why rename it to > linux2 ? I'm very curious :-) A symlink to $DL_DIR/build/tmp/linux-2.4.20/include/linux is created in /usr/include during the early build process. That's our way to ensure the usage of the correct include files for the current Kernel. > Thanks for your help and great job! sure > > ps. i hope after build was successful i can contribute to your efforts > with my work to integrate hostap driver for wireless; i 'm building last > cvs which gives really interesting new features. last question, it seams > a good idea not to modify sources from original tarballs, and to override > things to be changed with options in the make commands, but i was forced > to comment out 3 lines in the main Makefile (of the hostap tree) to > prevent depmod -a to execute at install time : is it against your > philosophy to do that or is it alright? Always try to avoid modifying tarballs, use patches. If it is really necessary, then we include modified tarballs, but only when we really have to do it. This makes later software updates much easier. About the depmod stuff, you can use it when it doesn't run into an error, which should not happen that late in the build stage (I mean after 159linux). We don't use the generated data and create our own when the system boots up. > Ok, i stop my newbies questions ;-) It's about time. ;-) -- Regards Heiko We are Penguin, resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |
