It turns out I was using the wrong lfssystem image. For DL 0.6 you should be using the one with this name: lfssystem-cvs-20030127-i486-stripped.tar.bz2 The other one is for an older release of DL. - BS |

While we weren't using it, I've always liked the idea of the patch system. Primarily because it meant that I could load a patch onto the floppy to fix something critical (simple and quick to do), without having to download a new release and create and burn a new ISO (which somebody might put off "till they get around to it"). Of course, I'm not the one who has to maintain it! Dean Nedelman TimeLord Consulting |

These means that we should indeed have it as a module, so that a user can select either "power_off=1" or "real_mode_power_off=1". Just my thoughts... Dean Nedelman TimeLord Consulting |

In the initrdtree, I recommend we remove these three files and possibly delete them from CVS too: software - not used & no longer needed since everything is on CD. patch_system - only called from "software". functions - not used, and ash craps all over when it is sourced. Any objections about me nuking them? (from CVS too?) Also one I'm not sure about: "links" It doesn't appear to be run anywhere, and the /sbin directory is rather empty. I've been having to modify scripts/busybox and manually add a bunch of links for missing commands. (working on probe_scsi_modules) - BS |
