Just LOOK at your emails people! I can't say you piss me off, cause I don't care that much about this, not far from reaching the status of stupid, mailing list. I believe both I and Tullisti bothered you all about this both once and twice before, but all seems to have been forgotten, and Tullisti seems to be making the same mistake as everybody else now. Here's what you're doing wrong: 1) REMOVE UNNECCESARY CRAP from the emails. Now I'm leaving what is in this one just so you guys have some example of how it SHOULD NOT be. Leaving MSN commercials from Hotmail or other free mailing services, leaving the ad from sf.net, and the mailing list bottom footer is also idiotic, and makes the mails less readable. REMOVE IT! 2) SIGN YOUR MESSAGE. There's no way knowing who sent the email originally if you don't sign it. And if you're using an auto-signature feature that leaves the signature at the very bottom of the email, like Tullisti seems to be doing, do as I said in note 1, and remove the old crap in between. The signature is supposed to be right after your own message, and not have tons of crap between it and the message. Please listen to what I'm saying, in my opinion it will give the mailing list a much better look, be much easier to read, and I won't have to write these stupid notices. You agree here people? -Phoenix :) NOTICE Like I said in note 1, I'm leaving the crap here just to show you how your emails usually are looking. ----- Original Message ----- From: <ddm...@li...> To: <ddm...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 3:58 AM Subject: Re: [Ddmodd-developers] stuff test render?? eh?? >>> ddm...@li... 09/03/02 01:49p.m. >>> yeah. oh, test render :-) >From: ddm...@li... >Reply-To: ddm...@li... >To: <ddm...@li...> >Subject: Re: [Ddmodd-developers] sorry guys >Date: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 12:55:54 +1200 > >oohh!! so close to New Zealand!! you should come over and visit sometime! > > >>> ddm...@li... 09/03/02 12:23p.m. >>> >Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide. Hey, sorry there guys, but colledge is really getting me down, plus i have this other project (http://sourceforge.net.nz/projects/pytrem/), which i am trying to make a dent into. (I'm gonna have to learn the python QT module, which scares the hell outta me :-( anyway, i do still have the wall.blend file, and i will process it someday, i need to work out what kind of angle i need to make the pics, remove the anti-aliasing, and I'm home and hosed. whats the story with your MB Glenn?? OK, you want info? you got it! we need 6 pictures in total, 2 for each char. The portraits are to be 134 by 148 in dimension. That can be changed a little BTW, in fact, so long as the total width of ALL THREE pictures is less than 550, and their height is less than 200, we can fit them in somehow. So yeah, two pictures, one should be sort of darkened out, not showing much detail, but still visible as a character you can click on. The other should be nice and light, with the words "ELF", or whatever above their heads (or below them, really does not matter). Sure, I have the tools to do that. That's the kind of stuff I was signed on for anyway, right? Keep in mind that sometimes when converting to the Dink pallete, your sprite's colors can end up looking like crap, but I think these walls should be okay. Unfortunately, there is a white aura around the sprite. You can get rid of this by turning off the anti-aliasing when rendering a shot. The image won't quite be of as good as quality (1 3d object over another won't look quite as good), but it fixes the white aura problem. I've done my best to get rid of the aura but it still has one. Also, you might want to make sure the camera and the sprite are completely level when taking a shot, I'm right now converting wall-02 and I've noticed it is slightly angled. I'll put them up anyway, but if I were you, I'd redo them (But that's just me). -Striker >From: ddm...@li... >Reply-To: ddm...@li... >To: ddm...@li... >Subject: [Ddmodd-developers] my pathetic walls.. >Date: Thu, 22 Aug 2002 22:45:58 +1200 > > >OK, as part of the viking wall structures, I made these walls.... OK, as part of the viking wall structures, I made these walls.... I'm going to now create round towers, which will cover the crappy corners.. ARRRGGG!!! i *HATE* taking screen shots from within blender!! and i cannot work out what file format the "screen shot" function built into blender uses either!! could i ask someone to take the screen shots fro me?? hmmm.. how does that work with textures?? probably doesn't... anyway, i took all these screen shots, and then realised that i had forgotten to put the camera on the right mode... grrr... anyway, take a look at the attached file. OK, I've just completed a completely new wall type thing. It now has a = shield thing at the front, and has arch thingies to support the wall top. = I have made it so that ladders could be placed up against it, if we make = ladders at a later stage, but of course that would mean that either they = wouldn't do anything,or we'd have to animate a "charecter climbing a = ladder" sequence, for each race. (at least we'd only have to make it in 1 = direction, when they are facing away from us. that way we could limit the = amount of work.... anyway, i also fouinf out how to render things in "orthographic projection"= mode, instead of "perspective mode". This means that as soon as i can = make this wall look good, we can use it in the game. so, I hereby request = to join the artistic force! I would be doing SIMPLE things, like walls and = bridges...maybe, but i have a bit of time to use for the ddmodd project, = and i want to see a demo released within the next 2 months. is that = possable? probably not, but i'd like to do it anyway. unfortunately, i cannot send them with this email,a s im at colledge now, = waiting for my friends to show up... but i will tonight or something... |
