Right. Another option, failing all that, is to use my cvs server at cvs.sauerburger.org, as I've already set it up for the project I'm doing with my other group. It's decently fast (784k per second). OK, i started removing the entire CVS, so i could start with a completely new repository, but ran into an error: the repository on the server keeps the directories!! This is a little alarming for me, as it means that we now have CVS which doesn't work. I have submitted a support request to sourceforge, but if all else fails, i may have to start up a CVS on my own server. the only problem is, that for people outside of New Zealand, it will be a little slow. Sooooo... development in the art dept. should continue (buildings Stephan, icons and portraits Glenn?). and the scripters should have something to do, so i hope that i can sort this out ASAP. thanks. -- The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux. Right, I'll do that then. I must ask people NOT to touch the CVS until i declare it safe again. I'll look into completely wiping the repository, and starting from scratch. I'll do it under linux, where i can make a little script to do if for me. When i am finished, ALL the original game graphics will be there, and when we replace files, i will delete them from the original. -- Lord, what fools these mortals be! -- midsummer nights dream. OK, well don't think that you cannot be of any use to us!! there is
HEAPS of non-3D art needed. everything from character portraits (for the
character select screen, to icons for the different inventory items
(we're looking at more than 60 of those). I would attache an example,
but i can't seem to find them in the CVS at the moment... can someone
else do this for me??I'm talking about the sword and fist icons which
sit in your inventory screen...
If you think you can do some of these, I'll ask the designers to post
some descriptions..

OK, heres the deal: During the last two days, I have been doing some map editing. Everything was going along just fine, until i realized that i had removed all the humanoid sprites from the graphics section, because i thought we were going to replace them. So, i thought "thats easy, I'll just take the correct sequences out of the original game, and add them to CVS, right?" guess how long it took me to add _one_ merchant sequence: two hours. basically, CVS was playing up. So: heres my idea: one weekend, I will completely wipe the CVS,and take the map files, and re-create the dmod, using ALL of the original graphics. Then, when we get some new graphics, we can replace the graphics from the original game. What it will mean is that less graphics will be replaced, but it also means that we can do something now, instead of waiting around for new art :-) -- This is a subliminal message. Maybe you could hack it or something :D (yeah right, who wants to actually try). Yeah, Seth's a greedy little bastard. :P Won't release graphics, won't release source code. What the hell does he need it for? Hmm... my only guess is that he doesn't want other people using his work for their own stuff... or he just doesn't want others to see the shoddyness of his coding. Me, I wouldn't really care, it's not like I'd be making anymore money off them, and it would allow my old project to grow far beyond what I had original designed. I call that the Software/Corporate Effect (a.k.a. Microsoft Paranoia Syndrom). Protecting unused ancient assets for no good reason.
