Steven, I am now using 1.2.2-14. I can see the "expert" mode. I tried imaging to a blank drive and one with the an image already loaded, but the drive partitions were not adjusted for the larger drive using only -k. Thanks. I tried this but the full image still loaded according to 120GB drive configuration. The resizing partition did not adjust the partitions according to the 160GB drive the image was loaded on. Thanks. Steve -----Original Message----- From: Steven Shiau [mailto:st...@nc...] Sent: Tuesday, May 26, 2009 6:39 PM To: Steve Poe Cc: clo...@li... Subject: Re: [Clonezilla-live] Restoring drive image partition from full drive image Hi Steve, By default, when restoring partitions, if not partition table exists on the target disk, clonezilla won't do that. If you choose "-k1" option in the expert mode, Clonezilla will try to create a proportional partition table for you. The problem is, all the steps are done at the same time. Therefore you might have problem... We will try to improve this in the future release. Thanks for raising this. Steven. Not improved yet.
However, partclone does support an option "-R":
-R, --rescue Continue after disk read errors
Therefore we will add an option to use this. Please keep pushing us.

Hi Steve, By default, when restoring partitions, if not partition table exists on the target disk, clonezilla won't do that. If you choose "-k1" option in the expert mode, Clonezilla will try to create a proportional partition table for you. The problem is, all the steps are done at the same time. Therefore you might have problem... We will try to improve this in the future release. Thanks for raising this. Steven. I am trying to restore a primary partition (Windows) onto a blank drive from a full image created with (3 partitions). I only want to restore the main Windows partition and the boot record. When I attempt to restore the sda1, Clonezilla generates an error no unmounted partitions are found. If I manually create the partition, then I can load it. What I want Clonezilla to do is read the partition size from the image, create it, add the MBR, but not care that I do not want to restore sda2 or sda3. How would I do this? Hello. With previous versions, I know you used to be able to uncompress, concatenate then restore the nfts .img files, then mount the resulting file using the loopback option, as stated in the FAQ: ---------------------<snip>------------------------------------------ 1. Prepare a large disk in Linux 2. Say if your image is /home/partimag/YOURIMAGE/, and the image is /home/partimag/YOURIMAGE/hda1.ntfs-img.aa, hda1.ntfs-img.ab... run "file /home/partimag/YOURIMAGE/hda1.ntfs-img.aa" to see it's gzip, bzip or lzop image. Say it's gzip, then you can run cat /home/partimag/YOURIMAGE/hda1.ntfs-img.* | gzip -d -c | ntfsclone --restore-image -o hda1.img - Then you will have a "hda1.img" which you can mount it by mount -o loop -t ntfs hda1.img /mnt -------------</snip>------------------------------------------------- However, this is not working anymore, using Clonezilla Live 1.2.2. First, the image files are named hda1.vfat-ptcl-img.gz.a? (note the "ptcl" and that the '?' is a wildcard). When I do the above on these split-image files I get: # cat dir/hda2.ntfs-ptcl-img.gz.* |gzip -d -c |ntfsclone --restore-image -o hda2.img - ntfsclone v2.0.0 (libntfs 10:0:0) ERROR: Input file is not an image! (invalid magic) I am using the most recent ntfsprogs avaialable(as you can see). Is there any way to do this anymore? Thank you. Chris |

Booting clonezilla-live via pxe, kernel panic. Here's the message I received. 126.499840] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 Mounting root file system ... [ 126.662101] ide_generic: please use "probe_mask=0x3f"module parameter for probing all legacy ISA IDE ports 126.706124] ide_generic: I/O resource 0X1F0-0X1F7 not free. I had to type the above so, its not the complete error message. |

Hi Steve, Yes, maybe. :) However, there is another improvement in testing Clonezilla live, i.e. partclone.ntfsreloc will be used to modify the start sector of NTFS. The parameter "-s" is used. In the version of 1.2.1-53, "-s" is not used. Hope this helps. Regards, Steven.
