Indeed, documentation at prompt is essential for final reference/review but separate documentation (not live) is very important as well for anticipation/discussion... Best regards, l0f4r0 |

There is no such manual. Hello. I was told Clonezilla can copy/move old slow 320 GB SATA HDD's updated Debian bullseye v11.3 to an old fast 115 GB SSD (going to wipe it clean). Yes, SSD is smaller but my Debian's installation only uses about 8 GB. I installed Debian use the whole 320 GB drive. I'll still be using the same 13 yrs. old PC. My HDD's df and /etc/fstab can be found in https://pastebin.com/raw/zAJM6Npc. Will this work? Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :) -- Quiet cooler week so far. Hello, Is there an official and uptodate clonezilla manpage please (ocs-sr)? I can only find old unofficial ones like the following: https://gist.github.com/gotbletu/630478ddf5b4e6ad6abd1a8b23918830 Thanks in advance.l0f4r0 |

Clonezilla actually does not support choosing LV only. No matter it's on a unencrypted partition or on LUKS partition. Hence so far you can only choose the partition which contains LV to save the image. > >> NB: is there a way to ask clonezilla to save a full log or am I supposed to pipe its output to `tee`? >> > `clonezilla | tee` doesn't work (probably because of the ncurse interface). > However, I've noticed that clonezilla log (more exactly: ocs-sr log) is saved under /var/log/clonezilla.log. Result is similar than whole disk nvme0n1 except it didn't clone nvme0n1p1/2/3/4 of course. It isn't what I'm looking for though... Of course, I could save all my LV and then delete the ones I don't want (here myLvmHome and myLvmRoot) but it's really not optimized (more time-consuming and more temporary space needed on backup drive). It could be really great if clonezilla can clone specific LVs only. If this is already the case, please tell me what I missed because nowhere I can choose LV (only disks or classic parts under the ncurse interface) and if I force my LV name under the shell then the whole LVM is shutdown just before and my LV not recognized hence. Good. Suggestion: I think there is a message at the very end of ocs-sr saying that log is saved there. But it disappears very quickly. Maybe you could add a stop after this message (like "press Enter to continue...")? Best regards, l0f4r0 |

Steven, 9 mai 2022, 22:36 de clo...@li...: > I will try to reproduce your usecase. > I did a test yesterday night and could reproduce your usecase ("savedisk" on full nvme0n1): * Clonezilla detects all the partitions nvme0n1p1/2/3/4/5, * then detects my LUKS on nvme0n1p5 and opens it correctly with my password, * clones all my partitions with the appropriate partclone commands (ext4, ntfs, dd) into images, * deploys my LVM and clones my LV (myLvmSwap/Var/Root/Home) with the appropriate partclone commands into images as well, * and finally checks all my clone images. However, this is not what I want. I don't want to clone my whole disk but just 1 LV (myLvmVar for this example). Is it possible? Next test, I will try to clone nvme0n1p5 only (saveparts) and see if clonezilla detects LUKS, the LV and so on... NB: is there a way to ask clonezilla to save a full log or am I supposed to pipe its output to `tee`? Thanks in advance.l0f4r0 |

So if I am not mistaken, you have on disk nvme0n1: * nvme0n1p1: vfat partition (probably /boot) * nvme0n1p2: xfs partition * nvme0n1p3: LUKS containing 1 LV (VG fedora_fedora) for your /root partitionCorrect? If so, your configuration looks like mine except I have multiple LV (I'm not sure it matters here). However, our use-cases differ. Indeed, you clone your whole disk nvme0n1 while I just want to clone 1 LV inside a LUKS partition. Do you succeed in cloning only nvme0n1p3? Even better, only /dev/fedora_fedora/root? Via clonezilla command? Or ocs-sr? If success, did you open your LUKS and LVM manually beforehand? I will try to reproduce your usecase. Can you reproduce mine? Thanks in advance l0f4r0 |

Hi, I tried to reproduce this issue on my VM with Fedora 36 beta, which is encrypted with LUKS . The partition layout shown in the Clonezilla live 3.0.0-21 command line prompt: root@debian:~# lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,LABEL,MOUNTPOINT,SIZE NAME FSTYPE LABEL MOUNTPOINT SIZE loop0 squashf /usr/lib/live/mount/rootfs/filesystem.s 295M sr0 iso9660 3.0.0-21-amd64 /run/live/medium 354M nvme0n1 20G ├─nvme0n1p1 vfat 600M ├─nvme0n1p2 xfs 1G └─nvme0n1p3 crypto_ 18.4G Attached please find the details about saving it with Clonezilla. Full commands below: GPG_TTY=$(tty) export GPG_TTY partclone.ext4 --clone --source /dev/mapper/myLvmGroup-myLvmVar --logfile /home/partimag/partclone_myLvmVar.log | gzip -9 --stdout | gpg --symmetric --output /home/partimag/partclone_myLvmVar.img.gz.gpg This being said, my questions remain: * Is it possible to achieve the same result with a higher-level clonezilla command like ocs-sr? * Can clonezilla save logs somewhere apart from just saving the command that was used? Thanks in advance :) l0f4r0 |

Thanks. > Yes, please, it would be great :) Let's simplify my objective and suppose I want to clone the used bits of /dev/mapper/myLvmGroup-myLvmVar via partclone.ext4 with compression and encryption. Here is my partition configuration as a reminder: $ lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,LABEL,MOUNTPOINT,SIZE NAME FSTYPE LABEL MOUNTPOINT SIZE nvme0n1 477G ├─nvme0n1p1 vfat /boot/efi 477M ├─nvme0n1p2 16M ├─nvme0n1p3 ext4 boot /boot 477M ├─nvme0n1p4 ntfs WinRE_DRV 1000M └─nvme0n1p5 crypto_LUKS 474,8G └─nvme0n1p5_crypt LVM2_member 474,8G ├─myLvmGroup-myLvmSwap swap [SWAP] 14,9G ├─myLvmGroup-myLvmVar ext4 var /var 18,6G ├─myLvmGroup-myLvmRoot ext4 root / 74,5G └─myLvmGroup-myLvmHome ext4 home /home 326G I've installed clonezilla live on a USB stick. I boot on it. It appears that I cannot clone myLvmGroup-myLvmVar partition via the ncurse interface because it seems that clonezilla doesn't recognize the LV partitions (it only sees a nvme0n1p5 black-box to save with dd). I think it's because the program shutdowns my LVM beforehand. So I ask clonezilla for a shell. I now open my LUKS with `cryptsetup luksOpen nvme0n1p5 nvme0n1p5_crypt`. It works and all my LV are deployed and recognized (I can see that with any `lvscan` / `lvs` / `lvdisplay` commands). I mount my external drive that will host my clone: mount /dev/sdb1 /home/partimag >From now on, I cannot go ahead because if I launch the following command, my LVM is shutdowned and clonezilla tells me that /dev/mapper/myLvmGroup-myLvmVar doesn't exist:ocs-sr --fsck-src-part --use-partclone --enc-ocs-img --smp-bzip2-compress --confirm --postaction choose saveparts clone_myLvmRoot.img.bz /dev/mapper/myLvmGroup-myLvmVar Can anyone suggest what to do please? Can clonezilla clone one specific LV? Can clonezilla save logs somewhere apart from saving the command that was used? NB: The only thing which worked is by using partclone directly but I need then to find a suitable way to encrypt the generated file... partclone.ext4 --clone --source /dev/mapper/myLvmGroup-myLvmVar --compresscmd 'zst -19 --threads=0' --output /home/partimg/clone_myLvmVar.img.zst --logfile /home/partimg/clone_myLvmVar.log" Thanks a lot in advance for any help. Hi everyone, This is my first post here. I've been using CloneZilla in my home to do backup & recovery of systems for the entire Family. I unzipped clonezilla-live-2.7.3-12-amd64.zip in the root dir of the TFTP server. The [MS Windows] DHCP server is configured to boot using ./EFI/boot/grubx64.efi on the TFTP server. The grub config file is boot/grub/grub.cfg and I have made no edits to it. When I boot the client I see the error message is : error: disk `tftp,192.168.0.1' not found. should that be `tftp,192.168.0.1` OR 'tftp,192.168.0.1' Gerard Hooton.
