Could you please post an always-reproducible case, including the ssh server version, the Clonezilla live version, the full steps to reproduce the problem, so I can try to reproduce it here? Hi Steven, Thanks for looking at this curious issue. I have just tested it running prep-ocsroot from a clonezilla bash prompt and it mounts fine! It only seems to be when going through the menu system at startup that it fails. I have been testing this by booting copies of the live CDs with the default options. Additionally, running sudo /opt/drbl/bin/clonezilla also works. So neither the clonezilla executable nor prep-ocsroot alone are enough to make it fail. This makes me wonder if it could be a problem in one of the /etc/ocs/ocs-live scripts. thanks, Greg >> When it fails, the error is always the same. I have done this successfully. But you might be better off using the clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-i686.iso to clone both systems. If you have older machines too and want to clone them, you can get i486 version and it will work on more machines. > > Or should I use clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-amd64.iso to clone 64 bit system > and clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-i686.iso to clone 32 bit system instead? I have 2 systems: - one with Intel Core 2 and Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit. - another one with Intel Core i5 2500K Quad Core LGA1155 Sandy Bridge and Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit. 1. Can I clone both of the systems using clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23- amd64.iso based LiveCD? Or should I use clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-amd64.iso to clone 64 bit system and clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-i686.iso to clone 32 bit system instead? 2. Can I clone both of the mentioned above systems using clonezilla- live-20110328-maverick.iso based LiveCD? |

Could you please boot Clonezilla live 1.2.6-59 or 1.2.8-23, then: 1. sudo -i 2. prep-ocsroot to mount your sshfs server. See if you can reproduce the problem. Thanks. Here I can use Clonezilla live 1.2.8-23-i686 to sshfs my squeeze server, using the TUI (prep-ocsroot). Besides, you mentioned that you can manually issue the sshfs command to mount your ssh server, so I guess mabye the issue is in the command prep-ocsroot. If I can reproduce the problem here, it will be easier for me to fix this issue. Steven. > > When it fails, the error is always the same. It depends on the used space. Normally Clonezilla can save 1 GB/min to 3 GB/min. It depends on the harddrive, CPU, network (if using file server)... Steven. Hi, I was trying to backup a hard disk with openbsd 4.4 slices. Version used = clonezilla-1.2.6-20 It backed up the first partition as 2 TB (max capacity of that hard disk = 2 TB) which detected as sda4 (i saw clonezilla detects it as having sda5 & sda6) but partitions detected on the backup partition list only contains sda4. Total size of sda4 = 13 GB Then it tried to back up sda5 and sda4 had cost me 6 hours so I would not wait anymore. Is this the normal procedur that clonezilla uses to backup hard disk with bsd sclices or I may be caused by a mistake somewhere during configuration phase? -- Regards, Umarzuki Mochlis http://debmal.my |

Dear clonezilla-live users & developers, I have tried since few versions ago to save to lvm drives(as default created by Fedora installations), but they don't show up when I want to enable them :( Is there a magical parameter to use to allow clonezilla to allow writing to lvm partitions? I have successfully used clonezilla and have saved images to FAT32/NTFS/ext3/ext4 partitions before, but on the machines where a Fedora installation resides(*that have lvm*), the disk does not show up :( I have deliberated to ask this question or not, but since I have several machines running Fedora with lvm, I would like to have the benefit of saving images there if it were possible. I have used it to save on machines running XP/Vista/7, Slackware, but have not been successful with lvm. Thanks in Advance, Antonio BTW Thanks for updating to kernel 2.6.38-1 :), I always *scratched my head*, why is clonezilla running 2.6.32? and without me asking/inquiring about it, Steven has modified to running Debian sid and basing clonezilla on it :) Thanks for this :) +1000 |

I was having the same behavior this very week! But I was using version 1.2.6-59. Like you, this is something that I do all the time, and I was quite puzzled. In my situation, I was wanting to perform a restore, overwriting the existing NTFS partition. I tried this repeatedly, always resulting in the same failure that you described. I even put a different NIC in the machine, and that didn't matter. I began to think that the error itself might be masking a completely different problem that the onscreen clonezilla errors did not mention. I booted the machine to a mini-XP CD and ran 'chkdsk c: /f' on the target partition. After that, I was able to restore my image. I don't know if this was actually the issue, or if I just got lucky. Dear list, We typically use Clonezilla via sshfs to a central disk-image server. This has worked well until recently, when we upgraded the server from Debian Lenny (5.0) to Debian Squeeze (6.0). Upon further testing, recent builds of Clonezilla were found to successfully connect to all Lenny and Fedora boxes but no Squeeze boxes. When it fails, the error is always the same. When booting up a live CD I navigate the menus thusly: English Language -> Don't touch keymap -> Start Clonezilla -> device-image -> ssh_server -> dhcp -> (server details) After that I get the following: Mounting sshfs by: sshfs -o nonempty -p 22 root@myserver:"/lab" /home/partimag The authenticity of host 'myserver (x.x.x.x)' can't be established. RSA key fingerprint is x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x... Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes root@myserver's password: remote host has disconnected Clonezilla image home directory /home/partimag is not a mounting point! Failed to mount other device as /home/partimag! The server gives the following errors: /var/log/auth.log Mar 30 15:47:51 myserver sshd[11424]: Accepted password for root from <IPADDR> port 39518 ssh2 Mar 30 15:47:51 myserver sshd[11424]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0) Mar 30 15:47:51 myserver sshd[11424]: subsystem request for sftp Mar 30 15:47:51 myserver sshd[11424]: Received disconnect from <IPADDR>: 11: disconnected by user Mar 30 15:47:51 myserver sshd[11424]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user root Strangely if I enter the sshfs command exactly as shown above at a Clonezilla root (sudo -s) prompt then it works and I can run Clonezilla successfully. I have tested this with several different versions of Clonezilla and found the following results when trying to use sshfs to a server running Debian Squeeze: CZ Version Status 1.2.4-28-686 OK 1.2.5-35-i686 OK 1.2.6-24-i486 OK 1.2.6-24-i686 OK 1.2.6-24-amd64 OK 1.2.6-40-i686 FAIL 1.2.6-40-amd64 FAIL 1.2.8-23-i686 FAIL This suggests that something significant changed in 1.2.6-40. The problem is not limited to one particular server, since I get consistent results when trying to connect to other Debian Squeeze boxes. Can anyone shed light on what the problem might be? thanks, Greg |

I think I have found the issue. I believe the problem is ocs_prerun* is run during init, which is in non-interactive mode, so there is no way we can input the password... I will think about how to implement a better mechanism in the future release. For the time being, is that possible you can use a NFS server, or use a script to do that? E.g. The content of your script (myscript.sh): ============== #!/bin/bash sshfs -o nonempty -p 22 clone@x.x.x.x:/images /home/partimag ocs-sr -g auto -e1 auto -e2 -c -r -j2 -cs -p true restoreparts ask_user sda1" ============== and the config file: append initrd=clonezilla/initrd.img boot=live live-config noswap nolocales edd=on nomodeset ocs_prerun1="dhclient -v eth0" ocs_prerun2="sleep 10" ocs_prerun3="wget -P /tmp/ http://$server/myscript.sh" ocs_live_run="bash /tmp/myscript.sh" ocs_live_extra_param="" ocs_live_keymap="/usr/share/keymaps/i386/azerty/fr-latin9.kmap.gz" ocs_live_batch="no" ocs_lang="fr_FR.UTF-8" ocs_numlk="on" vga=791 nosplash fetch=http://x.x.x.x/pub/iso/clonezilla/filesystem.squashfs Steven. Thanks for your reply but i've already tested this without success. The network is well set up but the sshfs part still produce the same error without asking the password.
