After hitting the F12 on the laptop to boot up with the key... I'm stuck at the orange startup screen. FWIW, I used that USB key on that laptop successfully with previous releases of Clonezilla. |

Hello I tried both the Debian- and Ubuntu-based versions on a USB key that worked fine on that same laptop with previous releases of CloneZilla, and I'm stuck at the boot screen (ie. where we get to choose "Clonezilla live (Default settings, VGA 800x600)", etc.) Neither Enter nor the up/down arrow keys work. I've tried the i686 and the AMD-64 version, same result. Has someone seen this? Thank you. |

We have no problem to use 1.2.8-23-i686 on a PXE server. You'd better to check your boot parameters on PXE config file, make sure it matches the boot parameters in syslinux/syslinux.cfg of Clonezilla live 1.2.8-23. Or you can post your pxelinux.cfg for others to review. Steven. Stable Clonezilla live 1.2.8-42 has been released. This release of Clonezilla live includes major enhancements, changes and bug fixes. MAJOR ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES: * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2011/May/13). * Linux kernel was updated to 2.6.38-5. * Syslinux was updated to 4.04. * Initrd was compressed with XZ, and this makes Clonezilla live iso/zip file smaller by 3 MB. * The pre-run and post-run commands were moved to the login shell instead of init so now it can be interactive, .e.g. sshfs mounting with password input. * The grub2 boot loader for EFI was added. This is a testing function for booting a Mac machine from an USB device with GPT partition. * The "gPXE" in the boot menu is replaced by "iPXE". * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, if you manage the boot parameters by yourself, you have to put the extra boot parameter "config" or "live-config" to make live-config to work. * //NOTE// From Clonezilla live 1.2.6-24, due to the change in Live-boot, the boot parameter to assign static IP address has been changed. The new format is: ip=**[CLIENT_IP]:[SERVER_IP]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NETMASK]:[HOSTNAME]:[DEVICE]:[AUTOCONF] [,[CLIENT_IP]:[SERVER_IP]:[GATEWAY_IP]:[NETMASK]:[HOSTNAME]:[DEVICE]:[AUTOCONF]]***:: e.g. ip=10.0.0.1::10.0.0.254:255.255.255.0::eth0,:::::eth1:dhcp BUG FIXES * Typos fixed. * A workaround to avoid the sshfs "Read: connection reset by peer" or "remote host has disconnected" issues. -- Steven Shiau <steven _at_ nchc org tw> <steven _at_ stevenshiau org> National Center for High-performance Computing, Taiwan. http://www.nchc.org.tw Public Key Server PGP Key ID: 1024D/9762755A Fingerprint: A2A1 08B7 C22C 3D06 34DB F4BC 08B3 E3D7 9762 755A |

Hello everyone I have a problem with the use of live-1.2.8-i686-23 via a PXE server Booting from the network appen, the client downloads the filesystem.squash via tftp and after a moment is ... kernel panic. I'm currently using the PXE server to provide clients with the live-1.2.2-31 and everything works great. The server is independent and works with debian squeeze, but now works for about a year. I would like to upgrade the version seen the new features added (control image created etc) Someone else had problems with this live-1.2.8-i686-23 using it via PXE? Thanks, Paol |

Hello, but I'll try to explain my (little) problem. I'm using live cd of clonezilla, running on a pxe server I've searched for a long time how to restore an image using clonezilla avoiding to enter any confirmation ( the press Y to confim) And I manage to do that using the -batch instead of -b, in boot parameter of my ocs_live_run line , and everything is fine : Clonezilla launch, the image is being restored well, and no confirmation is asked, after the image is restored, the reboot countdown occurs, but after that, it is blocked by the message asking me to eject the cd or the media, and it asks me to press ENTER ...... Is there any way to remove that confirmation ???? Thanks if anyone can help |

Strange thing occurs when trying to image a working windows xp system with Clonezilla. Systems boots up off clonezilla, gets IP address from DHCP but then cannot talk on network. Hardware: HP ws460c in HP c7000 chassis Network Hardware: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM57711E Ethtool shows correct speed and duplex setting Network Driver: bnx2x Clonezilla Version: clonezilla-live-20110504-natty I've tried other versions of clonezilla and they don't even get an ip address from dhcp The windows client works fine using same hardware so I bascially know the hardware, network setup is ok Any ideas on bnx2s? The latest version from broadcom is 6.2.23. I am not sure how to add this driver to clonezilla.... HARDWARE: HP ProLiant DL 380 G3 with RAID Controller HP SmartArray 5i and HP ProLiant DL 380 G7 with RAID Controller HP SmartArray P410i CLONEZILLA: clonezilla-live-1.2.8-23-i686 and clonezilla-live-20110429-natty Hello and thanx for creating CloneZilla. As I read on http://clonezilla.org/news.php in latest version in section "BUG FIXES" "* A bug where ocs-get-part-info failed to remove a temp file in /tmp was fixed." In my case i try to copy disk 72 GB from HP ProLiant DL 380 G3 (UltraSCSI) to HP ProLiant DL 380 G5 (SAS) in way "device-device, disk_to_remote_disk" and I have 2 problems: 1. The file src_partition.info on source host and tgt_partition.info on target host are missing "grep: /tmp/ocs_onthefly_tgt.xxxxxx/tgt_partition.info: No such file or directory" (I used ocs-get-part-info and with little modification I have the proper file with partitions) 2. After creating partition on target host a experienced "The grub directory is NOT found. Maybe it does not exist (so other boot manager exists) or the file system is not supported in the kernel. Skip running grub-install." (The fdisk -l shows me correct data on both disks, in column "Blocks") Is this known problem (there is a lot posts and messages of RAIDs on HP servers - /dev/cciss) or workaround exists? I've made test on the same server but on source I've mounted small USB disk and sucessfully made copy in the same way as mentioned above to target machine. |

So your case is for LVM on RAID device... It's even more complicated... As I mentioned, Clonezilla does not support RAID very well. Therefore I suspect that's the issue. Since I do not have the same RAID card here, I could not test it. The above is just my guess... Steven. You can use the alternative Cloneizlla live, e.g. 20110429-maverick or 20110429-natty. They include non-free binary firmware. For the reasons, please refer to: http://drbl.org/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/57_why_ubuntu_based_clonezilla_live.faq#57_why_ubuntu_based_clonezilla_live.faq Steven. Hello, first I would like to thanks for Clonezilla. Great software. I have Laptop with Intel network card which works fine with e100 kernel module. I found that in Clonezilla there's no firmware for the network card. When I try to run Clonezilla from pxe or when I run Clonezilla from CD (live) and want to address interface I receive message: e100: eth0: e100_request_firmware: Failed to load firmware "e100/d101m_ucode.bin": -2 The problem is described: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/530348 http://linux.koolsolutions.com/2009/05/11/tip-debian-linux-kernel-firmware-issues-ethernet-drivers-missing/ I solved this by coping this files from slackware-13.0. Please add to Clonezilla this files, it resolves the problem. Thanks, e. -- PGP Public Key: ID: 0x3AEA3541 MD5: 608E 6B7B 7CA9 6F52 D3DF 6351 6E14 FF30 3AEA 3541 |

Hi Morgan, I have implemented a better mechanism for this kind of interactive mode in testing Clonezilla live 1.2.8-35. You should be able to use the boot parameters to make that, and no shell script is required. It should work for your first post: append initrd=clonezilla/initrd.img boot=live live-config noswap nolocales edd=on nomodeset ocs_prerun="sshfs -o nonempty -p 22 clone@x.x.x.x:/images /home/partimag" ocs_live_run="ocs-sr -g auto -e1 auto -e2 -c -r -j2 -cs -p true restoreparts ask_user sda1" ocs_live_extra_param="" ocs_live_keymap="/usr/share/keymaps/i386/azerty/fr-latin9.kmap.gz" ocs_live_batch="no" ocs_lang="fr_FR.UTF-8" ocs_numlk="on" vga=791 nosplash fetch=http://x.x.x.x/pub/iso/clonezilla/filesystem.squashfs Could you please give it a try and let me know the results? If the disk is not shown, maybe the problem is the kernel does not support your hardware. Did you see any in /proc/partitions after booting into Clonezilla live command line? You canrun: cat /proc/partitions then post the results. Steven.
