Hi to all PHP gurus in Chicago land! I have been working with C/C++/Perl in UNIX/LINUX environment for many years and now want to create web for both myself and some projects at work. I have experience with simple HTML, CGI and SQL, and a little bit PHP work two years ago. I want to use PHP to make my user interface nice and friendly -:) I want this page talk to communicate with server and display contents. Because users are not superuser so I run several listening process/thread on server side, I wish this php page can constantly exchanges data with server. Some process might take more than 10 minutes before sending feedback to client. First 'dump' question is, how PHP keeps alive and refresh itself? Happy weekend to you all. Joe |

I used to send 60,000 Unique emails at a time. I have the code on a disc (I believe) and can get you later. Here's what I've learned over years of doing it. use sockets to send and write you own headers- it's not that complicated and it's faster. swapping in data is not a problem (I used an array to hold some 300 HTML templates and then would just str_replace sections/keywords). qmail has quirks (there is a line length limit- go past it and it starts spelling text funny). I'll email you if I find it later. Matt ----- Original Message ---- From: "sa...@sa..." <sa...@sa...> To: chi...@li... I am looking for someone to help with a small website redesign. The current site was very poorly written and has actually ceased working at all. I would like someone to redo the entire site layout, cleanup the backend functionality and in general, streamline the entire site. The site relies on some fairly basic PHP and mySQL and is hosted on a linux box. I would like this person to be somewhere close to the Loop in Chicago as I envision having weekly meetings to both discuss progress and also provide a bit of tutoring / q&a sessions on general concepts etc. I would also like this person to be available going forward on an as needed basis for additional functionality and any ongoing maintenance that might be needed. Part time and students are ok as well. Please reply and we can arrange a time for a chat. George Dowd ge...@ge... 312 505-9410 cell |

I don't think this made it to the list... @Peter: You may want to check that you're not posting to the "bounces" list. :-) -------------------------- Original Message -------------------------- Subject: Excel and PHP From: "Peter Snyder" <sn...@gm...> Date: Thu, February 7, 2008 1:27 pm To: chi...@li... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone, (First time poster, not-so-long-time-reader!) Does anyone have any thoughts on parsing Excel files in PHP? I know there are several Excel2SQL classes out there, which seem to be all over the place in terms of quality, but I was wondering if anyone knew and/or had worked with any other solutions for manipulating Excel data in php before I start trying to rip the guts out of one of those MySQL oriented solutions. Thankers, Pete ========= and to save a little time, here's a reply: http://richardlynch.blogspot.com/2007/07/php-microsoft-excel-reader-and-serial.html -- Some people have a "gift" link here. Know what I want? I want you to buy a CD from some indie artist. http://cdbaby.com/from/lynch Yeah, I get a buck. So? |

phpinfo also returns extension-specific info or blank if you pass in the optional argument of the extension name, I think... Or maybe I just dreamed about that feature... :-) On Sun, January 27, 2008 9:09 pm, Neil Rest wrote: > I'm working my way through some sample code which uses a compiled-in > package -- and the wheels come off at the first call to a function in > the package. > > Is there a (simple) test to see if my packaged PHP executable has > package x compiled in? > > > > Neil Rest > -- > Nei...@rc... > http://users.rcn.com/neilrest/resume/NeilRest.htm > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft > Defy all challenges.
