Hello, I could use RELOAD editor to create contents and then plug-in manually some TLF specific metadata in imsmanifest.xml file. I could zip the contents package and then upload inside BELTS without any error. But when I want to view the simple content I get the following error : "Sorry your browser is unable to display this object. You may be able to view this object by visiting /content/content-manager-upload/fb3c385672/6.1/eight.html directly. " The content is a simple html file with one href to a jpeg image as given below : ====================================================== <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="supp/reloadhelp.css" type="text/css"> <title>Eight</title> </head> <body> <P> </P><P> </P> <div align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <table border="1" width="25%" summary="for formatting purposes only"> <tr><td> <p align="center"><img src="supp/reloadeditoricon.gif" alt="RELOAD Icon"></p> <P align="center"> <img src="supp/crags.jpg" alt="salisbury crags" width="400"> </P> <P> <span class="SUBHEAD">Eight</span><br> Page Eight of the Content Package. </P><P> </P></td></tr></table> </div> </body> </html> ================================================= Can anyone suggest what is wrong ? Please ensure that your definition of belts.package-path in local.properties
uses forward slashes for the path, rather than back-slashes.
For example:
belts.package-path= C:/SA/onlineedu/belt/src

Hi,
We use WinZip under Windows to unpack the BELTS archives and tar under
Linux.
Under Windows:
When you open the file in WinZip, it should come up and tell you=20
=93Archive contains one file: belts-1.1.3.tar. Should WinZip =
decompress it
to a
temporary folder and open it?=94
=20
Say =93Yes=94 to this prompt. Next WinZip will display the list of =
files in
the archive. From this window, press the "Extract" button and choose a
directory to unpack the files into (e.g. C:\). Make sure "Use folder =
names"
is checked on the Extract dialog.
If you have followed the above, you now have BELTS unpacked in a =
directory
like C:\belts-1.1.3.
PowerArchiver should behave in a similar manner to WinZip.
The next step is to ensure that you have followed the installation
instructions at http://belts.sourceforge.net/installation.html and =
modified
the various configuration files according to your preferences.
You also need to check that you can connect to your Postgres server =
using
psql, e.g. 'psql belts belts'. The message at
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=3D3601508&forum_id=
=3D3192
1 explains how to correct problems with postgres.
One this is done, you should be able to run 'belts.bat' in
C:\belt-1.1.3\bin.
If you follow these direction, and the installation instructions, and =
still
have problems, please send me a copy of the file
C:\belts-1.1.3\server\default\log\wrappe
r.log so I can check for other error messages.

Greg Jones

Hi again,
For these errors to occur, you must not have unpacked the distribution
archive completely.
If you are building from source, then you need to make sure you have run =
=3D
the
build script in the build directory to copy everything you need into the
appropriate directory structure.
Can you provide a bit more information about how you got to this point?
Thanks in advance,
Greg Jones

Dear Greg Jones,
I tried first with BELTS-1.1.3 and downloaded src, doc and belt. I =
unzipped using a tool called
PowerArchiver ( I could not use WINZIP32 ). I installed Postgress =
correctly and installed the
Jdbc driver. Then I set the BELTS home and went to bin directory to =
trigger belts main executable
file. I got all the installation and deployment errors. I could not =
see anything in a Browser
with http://localhost:8080/ url. I did not build from source and I did =
not unpack distribution
archive completely.
Next I downloaded BELTS-1.1.1 and unzipped with PowerArchiver. This =
time I got almost same errors
but when I gave url http://localhost:8080 to a Browser, I got incomplete =

Hi, For each of these, you should be able to simply comment out the service definitions in the jboss-services.xml file, bearing in mind that there = are a number of dependencies, in particular on the Mail Dispatcher Service. In Order: (1) HTTP Proxy Service By default, the HTTP Proxy is not used, so there is nothing to do if you don=92t need it. (2) Mail Dispatcher Service It is probably best to keep the Mail Dispatcher Service set up since = some notifications, such as password changes, need to go through that = service. (3) Provider Setup, (4) BELTS Provider, (5) Scheduled Update Setup These services can be simply commented out. Let us know if you have any problems. Hi everyone, I have just merged across changes from the version 1.0 branch that make the server version 1.0.1. This will result in any server build directories now being called belts-1.0.1, rather than belts-1.0.0. It is advisable to do a clean before you do an update from CVS. JBoss 3.2.1 has been released. Initial tests (a build and quick run) show that this version is a drop in replacement for 3.2.1. As there are a large number of bug fixes in this release we should probably make this the base release for 1.1. -k. -- If you don't test then your code is only a collection of bugs which apparently behave like a working program. Hi everyone, I have just committed the first batch of classes related to the Content = discussions we had yesterday. These will all appear in the components = module, in the belts.content package. I have also checked the current development version of commons-vfs in to = thirdparty. These classes and interfaces should be considered unstable while we each = develop the next bits required. In particular, the Content methods = related to basePath, package and views will likely change over the next = couple of days as I implement a FileStore. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Greg. |

Greg, Hey, I know you in a meeting until 12 and I'll be leaving around then to come and see you so I thought I'd send you an update on the postgres and jms issues. Last nights postgres issue was due to a change in the datasource xml structure for 3.2. I've checked in the updates and that aspect is all good (though I haven't looked at the experimental hsql and sapdb sources). The JMS problem was again changes between RC4 and 3.2, The jms-service.xml has been replaced with jms-ra.rar and jms-ds.xml, there are some changes to the jbossmq service to make it operate in non jdbc mode. I've also removed all of the jboss test message queues. -k. -- If you don't test then your code is only a collection of bugs which apparently behave like a working program. I have just discovered (the hard way) that the local.properties file in the build module is over written when the etc/local.properties-example file changes. This is something to do with "build magic" a component we are using from the jboss project to manage to building of the modules (bloody black magic if you ask me). So in short don't be like me, make sure you have a second copy of your local.properties file and don't spend an hour trying to figure out what you broke followed by another hour trying to find all of the configuration parameters you changed :(. -k. -- If you don't test then your code is only a collection of bugs which apparently behave like a working program. Hi everyone, I have made a couple of updates to BELTS to allow us to export existing BELTS entities and import new entities into a new installation. This will help particularly when we want to change the database used by BELTS to be Hypersonic SQL, rather than PostgreSQL. To access these facilities, build BELTS using the latest code (either the 1.0 branch, or HEAD), then: 1. Login to BELTS as the user 'bootstrap' with the password 'bootstrap'. 2. Select the "Bootstrap Data" link and then "Export" to export your data. 3. If you want to import new data, "Browse" for an XML file and then press the "Import" button. As a test, try exporting your data and then re-import it into a clean installation. This method currently does nothing with resources, except maintain resource links in lesson items. The export mechanism will be improved as version 1.1 development progresses and will hopefully be able to export complete BELTS deployments by the time 1.1 is released. After some more testing, we will make another Version 1.0 release to give this capability to existing users. As always, please report any problems to the BELTS Developer mailing list. JBoss 3.2 final was released overnight. We should probably move to it. -k. -- If you don't test then your code is only a collection of bugs which apparently behave like a working program. Website: http://www.rocketred.com.au/blogs/kevin/ |

Hey all, reading the jboss developer mailing list it seems that there are some issues with JBoss 3.2 and CMR under load. On is specific to "READONLY" beans where the read only transaction is "lost" and the second complains about the field already being loaded. I'll keep my eye on the list and watch for a resolution. In the meantime I think we should plan to develop some load testing scripts for 1.1. -k. -- If you don't test then your code is only a collection of bugs which apparently behave like a working program.
