Can anyone help me with the syntax for passing arguments to a cgi program via the unix command line? Someone else is writing the web interface to the program and I don't want to wait to get the debugging started. Thanks! |

All,
we currently have an issue with ARS perl and setting up the connection
with our Remedy server.
With this sample script we are trying to connect to the server:
use strict;
my ($server, $account, $password, $port) = ("my-server.wanadoo.nl", "username", "passwd", 20320);
my $c = ars_Login($server, $account, $password, undef, undef, $port, undef);
print STDERR $ars_errstr . "\n" if $ars_errstr;
Its working for one box, but on another box we get the following error:
[ERROR] Message not in catalog; Message number = 150 () (ARERR #150
What can explain this?
ARS perl is compiled against the 7.0 API on the box which returns the
error.
ARS perl is compiled against the 6.3 API on the box where we don't have
any problems.
As far as I understood, we should be able to connect eventhough we are
using the 7.0 API and are using 6.3 on our Remedy server.
Cheers,
Wesley

All you need to do is call ars_MergeEntry and change the Status field to th=
e value representing 'Closed'. E.g. you would write:
=20
my $response =3D ars_MergeEntry(
$ctrl,
$schema,
1028,
1,
$ticket_number,
$status_field_id,
N
);
=20
where N is the numeric value corresponding to "Closed" (BTW, the above assu=
mes that 1 is the field-id of the "ticket number" field).
=20
Cheers,
=20
Richard.

Yep. ars_SetEntry Basic sketch of the program would need to do at least these things.. 1) login to ARS 2) Have (be supplied) or find the Entry ID(Request ID, record ID, field 1 value) for the record of interest 3) call the ars_SetEntry function to update any/all fields that need to be changed. 4) logout In sort that should get the job done. I think part #3 should be something like.... $r = ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $entryid, 0, 7, 5); Assuming your 'Status' field is Field id 7 and your "Closed" value is value 5. Our system administrators changed our host from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 and ARSPerl no longer works. I have tried re-installing various versions from ARSPerl 1.83 to 1.90. I am receiving the following error during make test. Any help would be appreciated. **** ERROR MESSAGE **** memcluster.c:355: REQUIRE(freelists !=3D NULL) **** System Information **** Solaris 10 Remedy 6.03 Tried ARSPerl versions 1.83, 1.85, and 1.90 Thanks, Jeff |

Generally, you have to use same compiler (or compiler version) for
ARSperl that the perl interpreter itself was compiled with. You can
check this by executing "perl -V".

What platform and OS? I've had better luck with native compilers on
many platforms (e.g., SUNWspro's cc on Solaris).

*bump* Were sitting here enjoying my day and that everything solved out pretty nice when the damn thing all of the sudden just crashed. I'm getting the same message in the apache error log but now it complains about a file called MSVCR71.dll which even doesn't seem to be a part of the c api. According to a forum on idg.se it's a windows dll part of Windows, Microsoft(R) C Runtime Library, version 7.1. Anyway. I tried to search for it on the local computer and I found it. I thought what the hell and copied it over to the %win%/system32 and it worked. That however made it complain about MSVCP71.dll. Again, i found it and thought what the hell and copied. It worked, it doesn't complain about anything any longer. Is there anything you shouldn't install for arsperl because everything was working fine without them for 10 min before it crashed? 2007/10/22, Andreas Falk <an...@th...>: > > Actually it works if i put the following dll's in " > C:/Perl/site/lib/auto/ARS/". > > arapi70.dll > arutl70.dll > icuin32.dll > icuuc32.dll > icudt32.dll > arrpc70.dll > > But it wonder why it doesn't find them without them there. Actually it works if i put the following dll's in " C:/Perl/site/lib/auto/ARS/". arapi70.dll arutl70.dll icuin32.dll icuuc32.dll icudt32.dll arrpc70.dll But it wonder why it doesn't find them without them there. I mean, they path environ var is pointing to the right dir and shouldn't that be enough? // Andreas 2007/10/22, Andreas Falk <an...@th...>: > > Hehe thanks :) > > Tried to run perl -e "use ARS;" from the commend line and it says that it > can't find arapi70.dll which i can't understant since i've put the path to > it in the path environ var. > > I'll do what you say and check if that works. > > // Andreas > > 2007/10/21, Michiel Beijen <mic...@gm...>: > > > > And for your issue: > > Are you able to run a small script like this from the command line: > > (c:\perl\bin\perl.exe myscript.pl) > > ----- > > use ARS; > > $v = ars_APIVersion(); > > print "This installation of ARSperl was compiled against ARS API version > > $v\n"; > > ---- > > This will probably give you an idea as to what actually is wrong with > > your setup. > > > > You might want to move the ARS dll files into the > > C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\ARS directory. > > > > Regards, > > > > Michiel > > > > On 10/20/07, Andreas Falk < an...@th...> wrote: > > > Well yea, that is a bit too obvious unfortunately. > > > > > > I didn't compile it myself. Hehe thanks :) Tried to run perl -e "use ARS;" from the commend line and it says that it can't find arapi70.dll which i can't understant since i've put the path to it in the path environ var. I'll do what you say and check if that works. // Andreas 2007/10/21, Michiel Beijen <mic...@gm...>: > > And for your issue: > Are you able to run a small script like this from the command line: > (c:\perl\bin\perl.exe myscript.pl) > ----- > use ARS; > $v = ars_APIVersion(); > print "This installation of ARSperl was compiled against ARS API version > $v\n"; > ---- > This will probably give you an idea as to what actually is wrong with > your setup. > > You might want to move the ARS dll files into the > C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\ARS directory. > > Regards, > > Michiel > > On 10/20/07, Andreas Falk <an...@th...> wrote: > > Well yea, that is a bit too obvious unfortunately. > > > > I didn't compile it myself. And for your issue: Are you able to run a small script like this from the command line: (c:\perl\bin\perl.exe myscript.pl) ----- use ARS; $v = ars_APIVersion(); print "This installation of ARSperl was compiled against ARS API version $v\n"; ---- This will probably give you an idea as to what actually is wrong with your setup. You might want to move the ARS dll files into the C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\ARS directory. Well yea, that is a bit too obvious unfortunately. I didn't compile it myself. I got the ppd version from sourceforge. And yes the file is there. Also got the c api installed correctly. It's in c:/arsapi and i've set the path environment variable to point there. It's a windows computer, forgot to mention that but I'm not sure how much it matters. I've never used this type of mailing list before so I'm not sure if this will be a whole new post now... Hope not.. Mark,
Thilo was polite enough to answer an email directly to him, below is
his suggestion:
You might try the following:
Assuming that '800000101' is a date or date/time field, specify the date
in the qualifier string as an integer (epoch time for date/time fields,
see recent arsperl-users thread about date conversion for date fields).
Furthermore, it looks like '800006010' might be a selection field. If
this is the case, specify the corresponding integer values of "Problem"
and "Informational" here as well.
my $date = '10/19/2007';
my $query = qq/('Ticket Type' = "Problem" OR 'Ticket Type' = "Informational") AND 'Log Date' = "$date"/;
my $remdate = (int( $epoch_time / 86400 ) + 2440588) - 1;
my $query = qq/('800006010' = "Problem" OR '800006010' = "Informational") AND '800000101' = $remdate/;
For some reason, from the command line the first query gets converted to an integer but from cron job it does not. Could it be a path problem to ARS.so?
Anyway, thanks to Thilo it is working if I convert the date. Thanks very much!

Maybe a little too obvious; but have you compiled ARSperl? Is the file that is mentioned: 'C:/Perl/site/lib/auto/ARS/ARS.dll', present on your webserver? You can try and download the pre-compiled ARSperl version from sourceforge. Regards, Michiel. Hi I'm getting this message in my apache error log when i try to execute any of my scripts. Premature end of script headers: List.pl Can't load 'C:/Perl/site/lib/auto/ARS/ARS.dll' for module ARS: load_file:The specified module could not be found at C:/Perl/lib/DynaLoader.pm line 229. at C:/Apache2.2/htdocs/List.pl line 16 Compilation failed in require at C:/Apache2.2/htdocs/List.pl line 16. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at C:/Apache2.2/htdocs/List.pl line 16. I've searched around on the mailing list and tried some solutions but it didn't fix it. I'm using the following versions. * ActivePerl 5.8.8.822 * ARS API 7.0.1 * ARSPerl 1.90 * Apache 2.2.6 Got any ideas? I'm close to giving up after fighting this problem for two days. // Andreas |

Have you verified that you are logging in to ARS as the same user?
As a test, try changing your qual in the cron to directly select one of
those records that shows up interactively.

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] Problem from web or cron
You might try the following:
Assuming that '800000101' is a date or date/time field, specify the date
in the qualifier string as an integer (epoch time for date/time fields,=20
see recent arsperl-users thread about date conversion for date fields).
Furthermore, it looks like '800006010' might be a selection field. If=20
this is the case, specify the corresponding integer values of "Problem"=20
and "Informational" here as well.

All,
Not sure what I am doing wrong! I have the following code that
retrieves entries when run from the command line, but not from a crontab
entry.
my $c = ars_Login(&CCACHE::SERVER, &CCACHE::USERNAME, &CCACHE::PASSWORD);
my $query = qq/('800006010' = "Problem" OR '800006010' =
"Informational") AND '800000101' = "$date"/;
($qual = ars_LoadQualifier($c, $schema, $query));
# Get Requests
my (%entries = ars_GetListEntry($c, $schema, $qual, 0, 0)) ;
if ( %entries ) {
my (%values, %ticket);
foreach $entry_id (sort keys %entries) {
}
}
else { #nothing returned }
The only thing I could think of was a path difference, however, I set
$ENV{'PATH'} = to the same as the shell path.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The BMC "Form and Application Objects" Guide says:
Users can enter dates from January 1, 4713 B.C. to January 1, 9999 A.D.
2440588 is the difference (in days) between January 1, 1970 AD and
January 1, 4713 BC.
I don't know why they chose 4713 BC as the starting year.

Thanks. That worked. I understand where 86400 came from, but what is
the significance of 2440588?

Unfortunately, date fields (unlike date/time fields) are only supported=20
since ARSperl version 1.90
The value has to be an integer which can be computed from an epoch=20
timestamp by
int( $epoch_time / 86400 ) + 2440588
