Brian, Yes this can be done. But it is not some "magic check box" to do it. The base ARS API (C/Java) has no utility(function) to preform "Active Links triggered by "X" now". However, your ARSPerl code could get the active links defintions, parse them, and "do the stuff that they do" if you want that. On the other hand... If you are really just after specialized workflow for your custom web site, then you can implement method to do interactive web pages that on the back end make calls to the ARS server with ars_GetEntry and/or ars_GetListEntry and/or ars_GetListEntryWithFields API calls to get the data of interest. I doubt that is the answer you were looking for, but I think that is the state of the union at this time. I'm new to ARSperl and the remedy API but have been tasked with making some webforms create remedy tickets. I've got it working to some extent but I have a problem I can't figure out. In the particular form we are using you can enter one of several fields and hit enter and the form will do search to autofill the rest of the contact info. For instance, you fill in the "Last Name" and "Firstname" field and hit enter and the phone number and other info are auto filled. Is there a way to do this through perl? Thanks, Brian Dourty System Administrator - Team Lead Division of IT University of Missouri - Columbia 573-882-1035 573-268-6871 |

Greetings, Your gcc command line is incorrect. Just because your "output" file is a .so doesn't mean that a shared object will be created. You're missing a couple gcc options. This web sites sums it all up http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/cpp/gcc/create_lib.html That should help. dear listers, I have some difficulties to install the arfperl on my Solaris box. After some changes I don't see any error or warning at the compile. But when I start the ARSystem I see the following: "390695 : An error has occurred while loading a plug-in. (ARERR 8756) ld.so.1: /opt/remedy/bin/arplugin: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/remedy/bin/arfperl.so: symbol Perl_vmess: referenced symbol not found" Any help? or idea or suggestion? Great! The strdup fixed the core dump problem (I was using
AR_LOC_FILENAME).
Now I am getting SQL errors retrieving large attachments. A 4M
attachment comes across fine, but a 65M one returns an SQL error.
Anybody run into this before?

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] Solaris compile problems with 1.90 *
GetEntryBLOB core dumps
ARSperl 1.90 doesn't support ARS 4.0 any more.
Concerning the core dump, do you call ars_GetEntryBLOB with=20
AR_LOC_BUFFER or AR_LOC_FILENAME? Does the core dump occur with both of=20
those variants?
If it occurs only with AR_LOC_FILENAME, it might help to change line 756
of the file "ARS.xs" from
loc.u.filename =3D locFile;
to
loc.u.filename =3D strdup(locFile);
and compile again. (The line number refers to ARS.xs in version 1.90 and
might be different in 1.85)

can anybody help with this? so now at compile time, no error no warning. Looked fine. But when I tried to insert the example taken from the doc, I got on the server side the following: ld.so.1: /opt/remedy/bin/arplugin: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/remedy/bin/arfperl.so: symbol eval_pv: referenced symbol not found (ARNOTE 0) Server (pid:11376) died with 256. And at the client side: ARERR [8939] The AR System Plug-In server is not responding. Cannot connect to the system at this time. Contact your AR System Administrator for assistance. can anybody help with this? so now after few changes of the arfperl.c I only get the following when I compile: "arfperl.c: In function `ARFilterApiCall': arfperl.c:374: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast " Is it very bad? ARSperl 1.90 doesn't support ARS 4.0 any more. Concerning the core dump, do you call ars_GetEntryBLOB with AR_LOC_BUFFER or AR_LOC_FILENAME? Does the core dump occur with both of those variants? If it occurs only with AR_LOC_FILENAME, it might help to change line 756 of the file "ARS.xs" from loc.u.filename = locFile; to loc.u.filename = strdup(locFile); and compile again. (The line number refers to ARS.xs in version 1.90 and might be different in 1.85) Regards, Thilo Stapff Allan Yates wrote: > I have a Solaris server: > > # uname -a > SunOS ottqa05 5.6 Generic_105181-35 sun4u sparc > I can compile ARSperl 1.8001, 1.81, 1.82, and 1.85 successfully. I have a Solaris server: =20 # uname -a SunOS ottqa05 5.6 Generic_105181-35 sun4u sparc I can compile ARSperl 1.8001, 1.81, 1.82, and 1.85 successfully. However 1.90 fails. hey Richard thanks for the link. I now get only > make gcc -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/CORE -I/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/auto/DynaLoader -c arfperl.c arfperl.c: In function `xs_init': arfperl.c:92: warning: passing arg 2 of `Perl_newXS' makes pointer from integer without a cast arfperl.c: In function `ARFilterApiCall': arfperl.c:369: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast gcc -o arfperl.so arfperl.o -G -L/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/CORE -lperl /usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/auto/DynaLoader/DynaLoader.a -lnsl -lw -lpthread So I believe it is almost done. But still I would prefer to avoid simple warnings as well. But I don't see hwo to cast or actually what to cast? Also I am not sure about what should be done next. Install and that's it? Any help? Serouche, 1) You also need to remove the "-KPIC" from the CFLAGS and LDFLAGS definitions 2) The -I arguments list the directories that gcc will search for include files so you definitely don't want "/usr/bin" there! Assuming you had perl installed in (e.g.) /opt/perl, then you would have "-I/opt/perl/lib/5.8.0/sun4-solaris/CORE" would be an example of a suitable value but, of course, you must look at your system to see how things are installed there. Serouche, =20 Assuming that your system *does* have the "gcc" compiler (you can tell by u= sing the command "which gcc" in a shell window), you will need to change th= e Makefile to select "gcc" and not the default C compiler. =20 Cheers, =20 Richard. > Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2007 10:32:32 +0100> From: ser...@dc...> T= o: ars...@ar...> Subject: [Arsperl-users] arfperl install issu= e> > hello all,> > I tried to install ARFperl which looks promising.> But I= got the following at the first step:> > > make> cc -D_REENTRANT -G -KPIC -= I../../../include -I/usr/bin/perl -c arfperl.c> /usr/ucb/cc: language optio= nal software package not installed> *** Error code 1> make: Fatal error: Co= mmand failed for target `arfperl.o'> > Any help/idea?> Serouche> > --------= -----------------------------------------------------------------> SF.Net e= mail is sponsored by:> Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.> It's= the best place to buy or sell services> for just about anything Open Sourc= e.> http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;164216239;13503038;w?http://sf.net/market= place> _______________________________________________> Arsperl-users maili= ng list> Ars...@ar...> https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/lis= tinfo/arsperl-users _________________________________________________________________ Fancy some celeb spotting?=20 https://www.celebmashup.com= |

Does the file "libicudatabmc.so.32" exist on your system? It should probably be found int the "lib" subdirectory of the Remedy API directory. If you don't have this file (and the other libicu* libraries), you can download it from http://arswiki.org/projects/arapi If the file already exists, the system has to be told how to find it, probably by running "ldconfig" or including the directory into LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I'm no Solaris expert, but this problem has come up repeatedly, so it might be helpful to search for related threads on http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=arsperl-users or http://groups.google.com/group/arslist/topics?gvc=2 Regards, Thilo Stapff Frassl, Maurice wrote: > Hi! > > Tried it but the same problems! > > If I make a test I got the following: > > # It looks like ARSperl doesn't find the BMC unicode libraries, probably=20
because of an error in Makefile.PL
Try to change line 114 in Makefile.PL:
$ARS_LIBS .=3D " -lpthread -licuuc -licui18n";
to
$ARS_LIBS .=3D " -lpthread -licuucbmc -licui18nbmc";
and compile again.

Hi Maurice,
I guess the problem is that you try to use a 64-bit Perl while the
Remedy libraries are still 32 bit. Please try to compile ARSperl with
a 32-bit Perl interpreter.
