A GUI to ease the process of producing a multipage PDF from a scan. gscan2pdf should work on almost any Linux/BSD machine.

gImageReader is a simple Gtk/Qt front-end to tesseract. Features include: - Import PDF documents and images from disk, scanning devices, clipboard and screenshots - Process multiple images and documents in one go - Manual or automatic recognition area definition - Recognize to plain text or to hOCR documents - Recognized text displayed directly next to the image - Post-process the recognized text, including spellchecking - Generate PDF documents from hOCR documents **Note**: This page is only a mirror for the downloads. The DSM manages the interactions between TWAIN applications and TWAIN Data Sources for the acquisition of images from scanners and cameras. This DSM is open source software and uses LGPL licenses.

pcdtojpeg converts PCD (Kodak Photo CD) image files into high quality JPEG images. Conversions are at the maximum available PCD resolution, and are fully color managed - no blown highlights or color casts. A C++ PCD decoder library is also available.

Scanning albums is not an easy task, since the extraction of actual photographs within scans is usually very tedious. This tool allows you to scan as much as you can fit into your scanner and then semi-automatedly extract the contained photographs. YASW (Yet Another Scan Wizard) is an application used to correct images taken with a camera. It can be used to post process the scanning of a book (see http://http://www.diybookscanner.org/ ) or to correct an individual image taken with our camera (A poster in the street). This is a non-official driver, written in C, for the FPS200 Veridicom's fingerprint sensor with the USB interface. It is also compatible with the Fujitsu's MBF200 fingerprint capture device.

SwingSane is a powerful, cross platform, open source Java front-end for using Scanner Access Now Easy (SANE) back-ends. The most powerful feature is its ability to query back-ends for scanner specific options which can be set by the user as a scanner profile. It also has support for authentication, mutlicast DNS discovery, simultaneous scan jobs, image transformation jobs (deskew, binarize, crop, etc), PDF and PNG output. It can also be integrated with your own Java application.

Backend to control HP Scanjet 3900 series scanners in linux (hp3800, hp3970, hp4070, hp4370 and those which use RTS8822 chipset). Written in C, using libusb libraries, it runs as stand-alone application and integrated in SANE project.

Scarse is a free (distributed under GPL) color calibration software package for Linux and other Unices. Build and use ICC profiles on your Unix box! Custom profiles can be generated from variety of calibration targets.

This is a driver for the Artec AS6E parallel port scanner. It now can be run through a SANE interface, or as a stand-alone program. Version 0.4 scans pretty well in all modes, and at all hardware resolutions. It works in EPP, PS/2, and SPP modes.

scanbd is a scanner button daemon. It polls the scanner buttons looking for buttons pressed or function knob changes or other scanner events as paper inserts / removals and at the same time allows also scan-applications to access the scanners. If buttons are pressed, etc., various actions can be submitted (scan, copy, email, ...) via action scripts. The function knob values are passed to the action-scripts as well. Scan actions are also signaled via dbus. This can be useful for foreign applications. Scans can also be triggered via dbus from foreign applications. On platforms which support signaling of dynamic device insertion / removal (libudev, dbus, hal) scanbd supports this as well. scanbd can use all sane-backends or some special backends from the (old) scanbuttond project. SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) backend for the UMAX Astra 1220U (USB) scanner. This is a heavily modified adaptation of the original command driver written by Paul Mackerras.
