Traditional methods for isolation of microsatellites (SSRs) are often expensive and time consuming. Nowadays is easier and cheaper to obtain genomic data from next generation sequencing. Then, at least two software need to be applied in order to obtain SSR primers of SSR flanking sequences for PCR assays. FTPprune is a Perl script to manage the size of a remote ftp archive. It was originally developed to manage offsite copies of Zoneminder CCTV events, but can be used with any FTP file archive. FTPprune will go through the archive and remove the oldest files reducing the archive size to a maximum that you specify, optionally preserving the last (-a) days of files.
