Open Source BSD Minecraft Servers

SteelMC is an independent Minecraft Java Edition server implementation written in Rust. It aims to reproduce vanilla behavior while using modern multicore processors more efficiently. Gameplay updates remain synchronous, while chunk generation, lighting, packet processing, and chunk transmission can run outside the main server tick. Players can join persistent multiplayer worlds, move, interact with blocks, manage inventories, use commands, chat, and return to previously saved areas. Its networking layer supports Java Edition authentication, encryption, compression, and protocol communication. World generation is currently its most complete system and is tested against reproducible vanilla chunks for block-level parity. SteelMC remains in pre-alpha, with incomplete survival mechanics, limited entity behavior, no plugin system, and no compatibility with Bukkit, Paper, Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge extensions.

BungeeCord is a Minecraft server proxy designed to connect multiple Minecraft servers into one larger network. It lets players move between separate servers while experiencing them as part of the same connected environment. The project is maintained by SpigotMC and has long been used by server owners who operate lobby, minigame, survival, creative, and specialized game-mode networks. BungeeCord works as a layer between players and backend servers, forwarding connections and managing server-to-server transitions. It also provides an API that developers can use to create plugins and extend proxy behavior. Its main value is helping Minecraft communities scale beyond a single server while keeping navigation smoother for players.

This project gives you freedom to get a fully-customized plugin for CraftBukkit Minecraft servers. You choose what to include and build it up. No more command collisions, no unnecessary memory and processor overhead on your server.

You will need Python2.6 (http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6), PyQt (http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/software/pyqt/download). Use x86 version of PyQt even you have x64 OS. If you use windows compiled version and have any problems with MSVCR90.dll you should install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=29).

An alternative/custom Minecraft server, written in Java, compatible with the original protocol. OpenCraft is built upon Apache MINA, SLF4J, Jython and XStream. The aim is to have features not in the official server distribution, like antigrief/scripting.

Rust framework for building Minecraft: Java Edition servers. Built on top of Bevy ECS, Valence is an effort to create a Minecraft-compatible server completely from scratch in Rust. You can think of Valence as a game engine for Minecraft servers. It doesn't do much by default, but by writing game logic yourself and leveraging Bevy's powerful plugin system, you can make almost anything. Opinionated features like dynamic scripting, dedicated executables, and vanilla game mechanics are all expected to be built as optional plugins. This level of modularity is desirable for those looking to build highly custom experiences in Minecraft such as minigame servers.
