NewPipe
A libre lightweight streaming front-end for Android
NewPipe is a free, open-source Android application that serves as a lightweight and privacy-friendly streaming front-end for platforms like YouTube, PeerTube, Bandcamp, and SoundCloud, letting users watch media without relying on proprietary APIs or Google Play Services. It intentionally avoids collecting personal data and doesn’t require sign-ins, giving people control over their privacy while still offering features like video search, history, channel subscriptions, and playlists directly within the app. Users can play videos at high resolutions, listen to audio in the background, and even use a popup player for multitasking, all while avoiding ads and excessive permissions that are common in official clients. NewPipe also supports downloading audio, video, and subtitles for offline viewing or saving bandwidth, and it parses service websites directly when official APIs aren’t suitable for its aims. -

StickyListHeaders
An android library for section headers that stick to the top
StickyListHeaders is an Android library that makes it easy to integrate section headers in your ListView. These section headers stick to the top like in the new People app of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This behavior is also found in lists with sections on iOS devices. This library can also be used without the sticky functionality if you just want section headers. StickyListHeaders actively supports android versions 2.3 (gingerbread) and above. That said, it works all the way down to 2.1 but is not actively tested or working perfectly. The goal of this project is to deliver a high performance replacement to ListView. You should with minimal effort and time be able to add section headers to a list. This should be done via a simple to use API without any special features. This library will always priorities general use cases over special ones. This means that the library will add very few public methods to the standard ListView and will not try to work for every use case. -

signal-cli provides a commandline, dbus and JSON-RPC interface
signal-cli is a command line interface for the Signal messenger. It supports registering, verifying, sending and receiving messages. signal-cli uses a patched libsignal-service-java, extracted from the Signal-Android source code. For registering you need a phone number where you can receive SMS or incoming calls. signal-cli is primarily intended to be used on servers to notify admins of important events. For this use-case, it has a daemon mode with D-BUS interface (man page) and JSON-RPC interface (documentation). For the JSON-RPC interface, there's also a simple example client, written in Rust. -

This is a fork of the now-defunct Android backup tool SMS Backup. It uses Gmail/IMAP to perform SMS, MMS and call log backups over the network. It is important that you perform the first backup manually. SMS Backup+ needs to know whether you want to upload messages currently stored on your device or not. SMS Backup+ can also backup and restore your call logs. It stores all calls using a separate label (defaults to Call log, but can be changed in "Advanced settings"). If you wish you can set this to the same value as SMS, to make all backups use the same label. -

Zipkin

Zipkin is a distributed tracing system. It helps gather timing data needed to troubleshoot latency problems in service architectures. Features include both the collection and lookup of this data. If you have a trace ID in a log file, you can jump directly to it. Otherwise, you can query based on attributes such as service, operation name, tags and duration. Some interesting data will be summarized for you, such as the percentage of time spent in a service, and whether or not operations failed. The Zipkin UI also presents a Dependency diagram showing how many traced requests went through each application. This can be helpful for identifying aggregate behavior including error paths or calls to deprecated services. Applications need to be “instrumented” to report trace data to Zipkin. -
