Tux Paint is a free, award-winning drawing program originally created for children ages 3 to 12, but enjoyed by all! It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program. You're presented with a blank canvas and a variety of drawing tools to help them be creative. Along with paintbrush, shapes and text, Tux Paint includes a "stamp" feature to add pre-drawn or photographic imagery to pictures, and a set of "magic tools" that provide filter effects (like blur, tint and waves) and interesting drawing tools (like train tracks, bubbles and grass). Tux Paint includes a collection of "starter" images, both coloring-book style and photo-realistic, and a large collections of stamps are available as a separate download. Naeon
The safest way to store private data in untrusted (cloud) environments
Naeon is a data encryption and sharding method designed to secure data in potentially untrusted off-site storage locations. It uses AES-256 encryption with a randomly generated passphrase, followed by obfuscation techniques to make the encrypted file unidentifiable. The data is then sharded into one private chunk containing the encryption key and part of the data, and multiple public chunks. Each chunk is renamed using its SHA-512 hash, and all chunks are timestamped equally. A filename conversion table is created to restore the concatenation order during a restore. The method aims to guarantee confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, regardless of the trustworthiness of the chosen storage environment, while protecting against data breaches and unauthorized access. Threshold Key Sharing further enhances security and resilience by splitting the private key into parts requiring cooperation from multiple parties for reconstruction, thereby minimizing single points of failure. -

FontMonkey
Font manager for Haiku
The newest member of the Haiku family is a font manager. I have a lot of font packages on my repo. Some of those are just drop-in replacements for Arial, Courier, and Times New Roman. I'm not interested in those. If you need those fonts, you will install them and leave them in place. Fontmonkey will also not touch the standard Haiku fonts. No, it's the fancy font for a poster or a flyer that concerns me here. Typically you use those once, and then they just take up space on the HD and clutter up the Fonts menu of your text editor. FontMonkey is a specialized package manager just for those fonts. Pick a font, install it and when you are done, remove it again, all via the Haiku package management setup. Obviously it has a preview facility. The initial release supports thirty fonts from my repo. As I make new font packages (and there are a lot of those lined up!), I will add them to FontMonkey. -

Rondel for Haiku
Markdown-capable text editor for Haiku
Rondel is a text editor. Nothing special about it, you've used text editors before. But Rondel allows you to insert Markdown formatting codes, either by hand or from its menus, and to generate HTML files from its own text files. Installation: Move (don't copy) the .hpkg file into /boot/home/config/packages on any Haiku installation with Package Management enabled. If your Haiku installation is quite up-to-date, you should be able to double-click the .hpkg and have it load into HaikuDepot, ready for installation. The source files will be found in /boot/home/config/data/src after installation, in Yabadabbadoo format. -
