A Markdown implementation for FreeDOS
Usage: qbasdown Markdown_file qbasdown Markdown_file --verbose qbasdown Markdown_file --silent ~~~ Written for FreeDOS in QuickBASIC 4.5, mostly under a hybrid DOSEMU/FreeDOS 1.2 installation, but the final compilation in a release will always be tested on bare silicon in a dedicated FreeDOS installation. QuickBASIC? Why? To see if it could be done, I guess, and also to re-familiarize myself with this BASIC dialect. It also compiles in FreeBASIC using the *-lang qb* switch. Linux has dozens of Markdown implementations, probably better than this one, too, but I don't know of any on FreeDOS. -

An updated Beginners guide to FreeBASIC
The purpose of this project is to create and update a beginners guide to FreeBASIC. Over the years I have noticed that there was only three real ways to learn FreeBASIC. The FreeBASIC Documentation, the FreeBASIC Community Forum, and A old beginners guide written by Richard D. Clark and Ebben Feagan. Each of these sources are great, but they all assume some experience with a programming language. This Project is taking Richard D. Clark's and Ebben Feagan's "A Beginner's Guide to FreeBasic" and is editing, updating, reorganizing, and simplifying this guide. Mr. Clark and Mr. Feagan generously open sourced there guide so I could start this project. Without being able to stand on their shoulders I could not have even started this project. Please check out my homepage for updated information and ways you can help with this ongoing project. If you can please buy me a hamburger as it is hard writing a book. -

Free and Open Source Technical Analysis Charting Software
QChartist is a free and open source technical analysis charting software. Its purpose is to provide a complete set of tools to perform technical analysis on charts and data. It helps to make forecasts mainly for markets but can also be used for weather or any quantifiable data. The program is flexible and its functionalities can be easily extended. You can draw geometrical shapes on your charts or plot programmable indicators from your data. It is also possible to filter or merge data. I got a little inspired from MT4 allowing a fairly easy portability of programmed indicators from MT4 to QChartist. It is now faster and much more professional thanks to the use of a C++ layer (used mostly for calculations) over the standard Basic layer (used mostly for the GUI interface). You can use astro indicators and functions from a library for astronomical calculations. You can get real time quotations thanks to Yahoo Finance, Alpha Vantage, Tiingo, Stooq, Finnhub and Twelvedata data sources. -

Conway's Game of Life is generalized to a continuous domain. OpenGL and GLSL shaders are used for real-time 2D and 3D graphics. Time stepping is done via a real to complex FFT based convolution operation. There are also two deliberately simple test implementations in FreeBasic and Matlab. A 2D version on a sphere shows that it is really not dependent on the underlying grid. -

A simple and fast frontend for the QEMU Emulator - Freeware.
QToaster is a simple app that executes QEMU with proper command line parameters (a frontend). The features are pretty basic, the executable is small and is a portable application. I needed something to automate QEMU quickly operate fast without having to worry about setting things up. I just wanted to get moving fast. It is designed just for that. It will keep your last machine settings and reload them from the .ini files that it creates. The main purpose I needed this for is Android - using Limbo. If something works on QEMU then it has a good chance of working on Android. You don't need to put QEMU in your environment path, just point to its base folder. It doesn't need any special runtimes (java, .net, Python, etc.), it only needs the utility file Lutil.dll. Ultimate Mono2Stereo
A better mono to stereo audio conversion tool
What sets this frontend for ffmpeg apart from other stereo simulators is it creates an impression of stereo separation. Without trying too hard to be "true" stereo in a gimmicky fashion. More importantly, it produces none of the weird phasing, and/or time delay artifacts. And very little, if any of the tone discoloration, when those others aren't meticulously set up just right. All this is accomplished by using the ffmpeg crossover audio filter to split the sound into 8 frequency bands. The split points are based on center frequencies of a typical 1/3 octave equalizer. Those 8 bands are then panned in varying degrees to left and right. The varying width of each band is set to achieve the best balance between the left and right channels. Mind you: the goal was not to exactly replicate orchestral seating. It was to best alleviate that "tin can in a hole in the wall" mono sound. -
