hello, Greetings from India! Wanted to share our successful and regular use of Tux Paint with tribal (indigenous) children - all first generation learners at our school - Tamarind Tree in a small village in north west Maharashtra. (www.tamarindtree.org) Our machines are on Ubuntu 14.4 and the Tux Paint version is 0.9.21. We have children from ages 3-10 and are using it across these ages to create pictures, write words associated with a picture, make sentences, and learn shapes. I am looking to share more ideas of how best we can use it for our teachers. Our school is an experiment in equity and using open source tools is ingrained in our philosophy for a better world. I really appreciate the work done on Tux Paint and I am sure all you developers would be thrilled and happy to see underprivileged tribal children half way across the world using and enjoying your work. So really a big thank you for Tux Paint. Look forward to getting ideas from this forum, Regards Michelle Tamarind Tree school Sogve Village, Dahanu, Maharashtra India www.tamarindtree.org twitter: @tamarindtree2 |
