I just randomly stumbled across the fact that there's a Snap package of Tux Paint! https://snapcraft.io/tux-paint Unfortunately, although it's labeled 0.9.32, it appears to have been built back in November, so it's really more like a prerelease (and will be missing any features I squeezed in between Nov. and the end of Jan., when I finally rolled a source tarball). I've reached out to the fellow who seems to be maintaining it (see https://github.com/Joker2770/TuxPaint-snap) to see if we can coordinate in the future (and maybe get him subscribed to this "maintainers" list). I prefer Tux Paint builds to be based on source releases, as much as possible (+/- some hotpatches), and definitely want to be able to celebrate "...and as a Snap package!" in the press releases & social media posts when a new version comes out (along with "...and for Windows... and for macOS... and as a Flatpak package..." :) ) Anyway, I guess I need to go add a new info page to the website about this fact. :-D -- -bill! So "composite" is an ImageMagick tool for compositing pictures ("overlaps one image over another"). This is done for Starters so that the thumbnail image shown in the New dialog inside Tux Paint shows the combination of both the 'foreground' and 'background' layers of the Starter. (e.g., "chessboard.png" + "chessboard-back.png") I vaguely remember that this isn't the first time something wonky with ImageMagick has killed someone's (your Haiku port?) ability to build. :-[ Let me know if you need any kind of assistance from me; good luck in the meantime! -bill! |
