Talking to myself on IRC. :) [23:09] <kendrick> got a video someone made on how to import photos into tux paint on osx [23:09] <kendrick> e.g., take a photo using some webcam thing [23:09] <kendrick> then it's: (1) drag photo to desktop, (2) load into gimp, (3) save back out as png, (4) drag into /Users/username/Library/Application Support/TuxPaint/saved/ [23:10] <kendrick> we need to make it WAY easier :9 [23:10] <kendrick> :( [23:10] <kendrick> like, we can let people drop JPEGs somewhere and they appear in the New or Open dialog. but then we need to give a new, PNG name when we save [23:11] <kendrick> much like when you load a Starter. you're opening a PNG from 'starters', but when you save out, it acts like it's a new picture, and invents a new filename (timestamp-based). [23:11] <kendrick> so you can throw a "bill.jpg" in a folder, and it will do what you expect [23:11] <kendrick> on linux we have 'tuxpaint-import' shell script, that uses netpbm or somesuch to do all the work and make a new image [23:12] <kendrick> a drag-n-drop tool on osx (and windows) (and linux!) would be nice I can imagine how it'd work on Linux. I've created .desktop entries that provide a contect menu in KDE to convert photos for other purposes (i.e., rotate, resize for a webpage, etc.) Maybe I'll try to whip something up for us KDE folks, for now... -- -bill!
