Am Sonntag, 10. M=E4rz 2002 16:49 schrieb Gerardo Eugenio Bossi: Dear Gerardo, it seems that with SuSE Linux there is always the same type of problems w= hen=20 trying to install Scigraphica. The libtermcap.so is usually part of the S= uSE=20 system and is located in the directory /usr/lib. With former versions of=20 Scigraphica, the problem was that this library had to be addressed using = a=20 different name - say libtermcap.so.2.0.8 or the like. So it helped to def= ine=20 the respective link to make things work. By the way, a similar thing happened with the libreadline.so, so if=20 Scigraphica should freeze if you try to type numbers into a worksheet, th= is=20 might be the reason. *** The message: 'couldn't import module "Numeric"' points to another problem which exists with Scigraphica under SuSE 7.3. I= t is=20 the fact that for some obscure reason the system path for the Python syst= em=20 is not set in the correct way. To check this, please type the command: sys.path into the python window. If you get something like: ['/usr/lib/python2.1/lib/python2.1/',=20 '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib/python2.1/plat-lin ux2', '/opt/gnome/share/scigraphica/python',=20 '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib/python2.1/l ib-tk', '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib/python2.1/lib-dynload'] you got the same problem as I got. A path '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib/python2= .1/'=20 does not make sense, it should be '/usr/lib/python2.1/'. In the case of=20 Scigraphica 0.7.1, I found a workaround using the following "script": sys.path=3D['/usr/lib/python2.1/', '/usr/lib/python2.1/plat-linux2',=20 '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib-tk', '/usr/lib/python2.1/site-packages',=20 '/usr/lib/python2.1/site-packages/Numeric', '/usr/lib/python2.1/lib-dynlo= ad',=20 '/usr/share/scigraphica/python'] import pickle import gtk import Numeric The first four lines contain the redefinition of the sys.path variable -=20 please write all that stuff into one line, because it is word-wrapped by = my=20 eMailer. The three 'import' commands import those libraries which failed = to=20 be imported because of the wrong sys.path variable. I run the "script" in a very simple way (I do not know a better one for t= he=20 moment): I just open the text file which contains the lines and paste the= m=20 into the Python terminal window by "copy and paste". Not very elegant, bu= t it=20 worked - at least for the 0.7.1 version. *** Hope these hints can help you to take off with Scigraphica.
