Hi I would like to have images created/pasted into/onto my (GTKExtra) sheets. I can paste an image from the clipboard and use "attach" or "put" to get there, though I first put the image inside an event-box and attach that. However, once there, the "image/plot" is "fixed" in "location and size" etc. I can implement the same bit as in the testgtksheet example with gtk_curve, but that pasted "image" is also in a fixed place and of fixed size. Rather, I would like the "image" to be as one might find "charts" in Excel. That is, they are "truly floating/sizeable" etc. on a given sheet etc (though for now I could live with just "images" coming in as PixBuf's) I have played around with the testimage.c example. That seems to have the features I am looking for, but I want the "moveable/sizeable" plot to be as an item attached to a sheet, rather than, apparently one layer of a canvas on top of another layer of a canvas. I can't figure out how to use "canvas's" in the way I would like. Also, the "plot" s/r's seem to be PixMap oriented, where as some of the image data arrives as PixBuf (and I have not found a suitable "converter"). Any assistance or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated, again for now just attach/put an image that is sizeable/moveable etc would be sufficient (cf. a full plotting structure etc). Cheers DrO |

We got a bit tired of the various missing Glade pallette icons for GtkExtra, so we created a few of them. These are just for the 22x22, and go into the usual place /share/Glade3 .... along with the other Gtk/GtkExtra icons. There are a couple of "extra" icons intended as "starting" points for creating more. We will probably create a few more eventually (though we create most of our progs directly in code c.f. Glade). Hope it helps somebody ... happy holidays DrO |

Dr Mr Paquet et al: Cheers for that, and sorry about the lateness of my update, but in fact the post by Tom Schoonjans (see below) held the solution, and with those steps, the 64bit variant also compiles under Mingw64-x86 (incidentally, I did note that the 32 bit variant compiled already under Mingw64_i686, so clearly the comdlg32.dll must have existed, and been OK). Many thanks to Tom Schoonjans. For completeness. The post by Tom Schoonjans: ------------------------------ The developers are aware of this problem: it has to do with the fact that the tarballs were generated on Centos6, which ships with an old version of libtool, and produces tarballs that are not compatible with MinGW64. The solution is simple: install the most recent versions of autoconf, automake and libtool, and run 'autoreconf -if' within the unpacked source tarball. It should work properly then. Best regards, Tom ------------------------------ As I had all of the latest versions of the request tools already installed, it was simply a matter of autoreconf -if ./configure --prefix=.... enable-glade &&\ make && \ make install Incidentally, as a kind of by-product, there was a weird problem with the 3.3.0 release in that (for reasons unknown to us) it produced a "duff config.h" (e.g. all the macro's were undefined etc, and so under the 32 bit build we had to create the config.h manually). With the autoreconf, it produces the config.h correctly also with 3.3.0. ... we tested it with 3.3.3 also, and it worked, but we are sticking with 3.3.0 for now since we had implemented some proprietary changes to the GtkExtra 3.3.0 source which we wish to retain for the moment. Many thanks to all DrOli -----Original Message----- From: FredyPaquet [mailto:fr...@op...] Sent: 15 December 2016 00:54 To: oliver Cc: sci...@li... We're cross-compiling GtkExtra V3.3.3 and Gtk V2.24.28 for Win 32-Bit and 64-Bit without any problems here. I would double check the linker path, because you mentioned that comdlg.ddl exists in your 64-Bit environment. We have been playing around with Gtk/GTKExtra on WinXP64 and Win764, under Mingw64, mostly using the 32-bit compilers. We create our own entire MingW infrastructure from scratch (i.e. build everything from scratch) following a process much like that suggested here (http://ingar.satgnu.net/devenv/mingw32/base.html). We have compiled the GTKExtra package many times, as we make various adjustments to the source to suit our needs. The compile to DLL's has always worked (and also with Glade integration when required) with 32bit GCC Recently, we wished to compile GTKExtra with the 64bit GCC package, but it always fails with errors like: ............ gtkplotgdk.lo gtkplotpc.lo gtkplotpixmap.lo gtkplotpolar.lo gtkplotprint.lo gtkplotps.lo gtkplotsegment.lo gtkplotsurface.lo gtkpsfont.lo gtksheet.lo gtksheetcolumn.lo gtktogglecombo.lo gtkextra-marshal.lo gtkextratypebuiltins.lo -lm libtool: link: rm -fr .libs/libgtkextra-win32-3.0.a .libs/libgtkextra-win32-3.0.la .libs/libgtkextra-win32-3.0.lai *** Warning: linker path does not have real file for library -lcomdlg32. *** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in when *** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a *** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have *** because I did check the linker path looking for a file starting *** with libcomdlg32 and none of the candidates passed a file format test *** using a file magic. Last file checked: C:/Apps/MinGW/mingw64/bin/../lib/gcc/x86_64-w64-mingw32/5.4.0/../../../../x8 6_64-w64-mingw32/lib//libcomdlg32.a ............ Once these start to print, it is a certainty that the GtkExtra DLL will not be created, and the build will exit with Error (dll not found, etc during install) ............ make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/build64/gtkextra-3.3.0' make: *** [all] Error 2 ............ With the 32bit builds, all that is required is ./configure --prefix ... (and possible enable glade), and it always works (i.e. creates the GtkExtra DLL) With the 64 bit builds, we have tried every permutation we could think of, such as specify the "host=" and "build=" options, as well as "enable = shared" "disable = static " etc etc for example ./configure --build=x86_64-w64-mingw32 --prefix=${LOCALDESTDIR} --disable-static ... but no joy, it insists on building static, and apparently it "chokes" primarily on the Windows API libs such as lcomdlg32. Though, we know with certainty both the 32bit and 64bit ComDlg32.DLL's (etc) are on the path (and it does see those with with the 32 bit compile). ... we also know with certainty the that all other aspects of the 64bit mingw build/install is working correctly since, for example, it correctly creates the 64bit dll's for GLib, Gtk and Gdk (and Pango, Cairo, etc etc) when we build those from scratch We have also tested everything with permutations of GCC 5.2.0 - 6.2.0, Gtk 2.2.24.28 - 2.24.31 (the later of which requires a much more extensive Mingw infrastructure, and also with and and without various patches that are not obvious as to their usefulness, but just in case) ... we tend to use the sjlj GCC variant for the 32bit work, and the SEH GCC variant for the 64 bit work. The only package we can't build in (shared) 64 bit mode is the GTKExtra DLL. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers DrO (Dr Oliver Bajor) PS a): Since around ver 3.1.5, the GtkExtra package appears to be missing the file glade-gtksheet-editor.h, which is required if the "enable glade" option is desired (we just copied the file from an older back up) PS b): we have run into a couple of other Gtk/GTKExtra problems that we as have posted on StackOverflow, just in case any body might have some thoughts on those as well. 1) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/40755870/win-os-clipboard-targets-vs-gtkc lipboard-targets 2) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/40730454/gtkclipboard-gdk-property-delete -targets-crash-excel-only-windows |

Hi Oliver, perhaps you are looking for gtk_sheet_range_set_editable() ? When a cell is marked not editable, the entry widget (with blinking cursor) is not displayed in the cell when you click on it. The text is however still automatically selected and you get a cursor to highlight the portion you want for copy/paste, but you do not get an entry widget that allows you to edit the cell. Dear Sirs I have been trying everywhere to obtain a response to what would seem like an otherwise simple GTKExtra question, but it seems very difficult to communicate with anyone. I had eventually posted the question also on StackOverflow, but no joy. I've tried to create a GTKExtra login account, but it is not completing. In any case, would any know if there is a way to create a cell "without direct entry" in GTKSheet. That is, when a cell is selected, it should be selected ONLY (e.g the cursor should not enter the cell, etc) ... a bit like selecting a cell in Excel, or a range in GTKExtra/GTKSheet. The idea is to use a secondary step to gain entry to the cell (either directly into the cell, or into an edit box along the to, as with Excel etc.). Please advise. DrO |

Thanks for the usual prompt response Fredy! I took those 80 pixels of padding out in my version of the library and it looks much better. I'm still struggling a bit to get the sheet to come up without any scrollbars automatically when its small enough but I think the problem is not in the library anymore, but in my code. Hello, I'm using gtksheet from gtkextra 3.1.5 and creating my sheet inside a GtkScrolledWindow as suggested by all examples and the sample/test code in the library. I see that there is always a padding of blank space to the right/bottom of the window, that I can't seem to eliminate. I've tried changing row/col label visibility, setting the width/height to 0, and also the show/hide functions, but that space not to be allocated to anything, but still requested from the scrolledwindow. Is there a way to eliminate it, so that the sheet fits snugly in the scrolled window ? If someone can explain to me where to look in the library, I am happy to make a change to the library myself. Many thanks in advance! Rgds, Shiva |

Hi Fredy, Thanks for the prompt answer. What's the best way to simulate it visually (assuming I code the logic for tracking the spanning in my code) ? Is it at all even possible ? Can I do something with setting the width of the GtkEntry that is used, and setting border widths on the appropriate range to 0 ? Is there any other option for sheet widgets in GTK2 that you would consider reccomending if this is a required feature ? Hi, When building a large gtk-sheet, it would be nice to have a watch for cursor :-) How do I make the cursor remain the same in a gtk-sheet. ? On the root window, I can change the cursor to a watch, but when I move the mouse over a gtk-sheet, it changes back to a pointer or a plus. Is there a gtk-sheet call to change the cursor instead ? I use v. 3.0.5 of GtkExtra. Regards Thomas Rønshof |

Arne, GtkExtra has split into two branches, gtkextra-2 and gtketra-3. gtkextra-2 is being maintained by myself with major bug fixes but not being developed. gtkextra-3 is being actively developed by fpaquet to remove obsoleted calls and move it to preferred gtk features. Dear all, I have seen that there is some activity in GtkExtra, and there was also a branch for GTK3. Is GtkExtra now compatible with Gtk3 or is there any progress in this direction? I tried to compile with in an Gtk3 Environment, but it seems that there are still a lot of deprecated symbols in the sources. regards Arne |

Dear all, I am using gtk-plot for a oscilloscope like program, where I show some graphs with sampled data. http://www.pagelnet.de/uctools/a00009.html Now I want to add a courser functionality, means: I want to have two cross-hair like cursors, which have to be attached to one (or two) of my graphs. When a cursor is selected it should follow the mouse movements in X direction. The best would be if the center of the cross would stick to the selected graph, even the mouse makes a deviation in Y direction. My first idea was to use markers, and base on this, but it seems that makers are not working when my plots are generatete with a custom function (gtk_plot_add_function). Maybe there is a way to indicate datapoints manualy in my callback function. any suggestion out there to help me in this matter? regards Arne |
