FYI, perhaps this was already known, bu I just found out that Camilo will be working on a interface to access saga modules (and other geoprocessing tools) from qgis with a sponsorship from the google summer of code programme. I really think this is a very good project, merging the strengths of 2 great open source projects, (easy api and processing power from saga, nice graphical user interface for editing, ... from qgis), so I really hope this will be a fruitful cooperation. Anyway, I guess that during implementation suggestions for improvements will come (there already is one below), so perhaps we can discuss on this list how we could implement them. Many things to think about during GSoC application! > If eg some functions in the api which make parsing more easy are > missing we could try to implement them (they would also be useful if > somebody would write eg a saga arcgis plugin). Probably other things will turn up, but so far, the only functions we have missed are metadata about the modules: We want to distinguish basic parameters from advanced parameters (with default options) & organize the modules by tags. I was thinking of getting that information from a wiki or generate it programatically, if it is not supplied with the modules. In case you haven't seen it, there is a discussion on the Qgis-developer list, that starts here: http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/qgis-developer/2011-April/014057.html and a wiki page, where I have compiled some of the ideas: https://github.com/polymeris/qgis/wiki/QGIS-Processing-Framework Thanks for your interest, Camilo |
