On SUSE 9.1 I ran into the same problem with the 1.3.1 client. There is a
'grammar' error in src/tn5250.c, but I forgot which line, but it is towards
the end. If I remember correctly, a close parentheses was needed. run a
diff against the current cvs version. Alternately, compile the cvs version.
The cvs version is correct.
