I haven't tested this in the other gamemodes, I can only confirm what I've encountered in our own testing for Fantasy Craft.

Fantasy Craft is like 3.5e with the x4 multiplier at first level. It also has max skill ranks, like 3.5e. However, you can exceed those maximum caps with certain skills with abilities and feats. Probably not the issue, but laying out the foundation ground work for the variables and such that might factor in to the problem.

With the retroskill rule enabled for us, the first level x4 is removed and replaced with a x1 once you take 2nd level or higher. My testing is with an Intelligence of 8, which may or may not have an affect here.

As an example I'll attach some screenshots, but Class Level 1: 5 Skill points (6-1)
1st = 20
2nd = 5

Expected result, but instead it goes:
1st = 20
-next level
1st =5
2nd =5

I've confirmed the behavior that was discovered by another playtester and confirmed by others, so it's not an isolated incident.

Now, to fix the issue, I did disable the rule. But the unintended consequence of that is now the ability that grants an extra skill point each level doesn't work for first level. That ability is bonusing a variable I attached to the gamemode that has the int boost to the skill points. Now that, might be contributing to why the issue is manifesting. It is defined as 0 in the gamemode, so I would hope not.

I can send you the play test packet, but I'll need to get you signed onto their NDA first. Screenshots to be attached shortly as time permits.

This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
If you think it was sent incorrectly, please contact your JIRA administrators
For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira

|
