Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: SPELLS:SPELLBOOK kit tag does not work with custom classes Initial Comment: I've been try to find a solution to the problem of monsters which can cast from more than one spelllist, I'll use the Couatl from the Pathfinder RPG, now coded in the Bestiary as an example: "A couatl casts spells as a 9th-level sorcerer, and can cast spells from the cleric list as well as those normally available to a sorcerer. Cleric spells are considered arcane spells for a couatl, meaning that the creature does not need a divine focus to cast them. The solution I've found is to code a specific monster class and use the following spell tags: CLASS:Couatl Outsider SPELLSTAT:CHA SPELLTYPE:Arcane MEMORIZE:NO BONUS:CASTERLEVEL|Couatl Outsider|9 SPELLLIST:2|Sorcerer|Cleric This seems to work, when you create a Couatl and go to the spells tab you see "Couatl Outsider" in the left pane with a complete merged list of Sorcerer and Cleric spells, you can then add them to the known spells list. I've encountered 2 problems which I hope might just be bugs, the first is that I cannot get the Default kit to add these spells at all, I can add them manually but the SPELLS:SPELLBOOK=Known Spells|CLASS=Couatl Outsider tag (which works fine with an actual Spellcaster or a monster with straight up bonus levels of a Spellcaster class. The Couatl default kit has the spellist in it now but they do not get added. The second problem is that the casterlevel is not reported correctly on the Statblock OS's, the casterlevel of a Couatl is 9 even though it has 12 HD. On Statblock 5 in the known spells block it's listed as "Known Outsider Spells (CL 12th)", this is also the case in the spells tab when you select the class and view the class info pane in the lower right. When you look at the individual spells output the caster level is correct, all the calculations come out right and the casterlevel is reported at 9 in the lower right corner. This issue also effect the Ranger which manifests the same problem once you get enough levels to cast spells. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384719&aid=2937426&group_id=25576 |
