Category: Output Sheet Error Group: To be Fixed for 6.0 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Output of two ranged weapons wielded in two hands Initial Comment: > From: Mike <pri...@ya...> > In Modern if have two-weapon fighting & equip Glock > Model 20 to both Primary & Secondary hands, only > Primary Hand is Printed out in IE Preview screen & > hard copy. ==================================== Looks like the OS code gets confused here. Melee weapons get the full block with two-handed, off-hand, etc. Ranged weapons, get the range table, but do not get two-handed. In other words, some assumptions are made about types of weapons that don't work with two ranged weapons. I'd be willing to bet that having two hand crossbows cause similar problems on the fanstasy side. Looks like there needs to be a new weapons block for small ranged weapons. And a LST change to force things like pistols to use that weapons block (i.e. the correct TYPE). Chuck OS Chimp ==================================== Ok, I was around when we did the Range block. IIRC, it was Barak, Felipe, and myself that did it. I don't remember thinking of two ranged weapon attack sequence stuff.... Let us know what you need from the data team, Chuck. At this point, it is an area best designed from OS needs, and then supplied from Data, not vice versa. That's how we did it last time, too. :) Tir Gwaith LST Chimp ==================================== The problem I see is when the weapons are the same, if two different guns are equipped then two separate blocks are printed but if two of the same weapon are equipped in both hands only the primary hand is output. Is it something that Tom should be made aware of now for his CDOM planning/design? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-09-08 16:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Done - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-09-08 16:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 This still needs a Spec. The wanted output is there, you just also get the attack value in fields that should display N/A, so I see this only as a minor annoyance. Therefore I haven't taken the time yet to thoroughly think the problem over. For that matter, please push this tracker back on the roadmap to 6.0. Lowering Priority to 3. -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-03-27 16:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 This one will need code work. The OS should display N/A for oversized weapons on some attacks, but that behavior is only hardcoded for melee weapons. A problem with changing that is, that this behaviour is not wanted in every case. For instance stationary, vehicle or starship weapons should display the tohit value in any case. We probably need a way to trigger the that behavior. I'll need to ask Devon if it is feasible to do something about this in time, otherwise we'll have to drop this one from the 5.10 list. -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-22 16:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 You're almost certainly right! I'll bring it up tonight to make sure :-) - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-03-22 16:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 Heh, last cycle the Betas still continued to use the 5.7.x numbers and only the RCs went on using 5.8 as release number. Is that going to be different this cycle? -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-22 15:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Hey Frank, next release is Beta 1 FYI, but as this is a bug it can be put into the repository up to RC 1 (several weeks away), so you've got time :-) - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-03-22 15:54 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 For another FREQ I have recently expanded the ranged weapon blocks in the Modern OS to display the matrix of primary hand, off-hand, two-weapons etc. similar to melee weapons. That one appears for all ranged weapons, though. I'll see if I can tweak it to display N/A in the other attacks, if the weapon can only be used twohanded. I think that would cover this? Chuck, this one was assigned to you. I hope you don't mind if a grab it, as it is a Modern OS bug. I doubt that I'll make this in time for 5.9.7, but will get to it soon. -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=748296&aid=1240293&group_id=25576 |
