Category: Expand Existing Feature Group: For 5.16.0 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Fluxxdog (fluxxdog) Assigned to: Fluxxdog (fluxxdog) Summary: Languages: add Alphabet type Initial Comment: One of the things I noticed lacking from the language files for (R)SRD files was an alphabet type. The RSRD lists the languages that have an alphabet with them. I was wondering if we could add them ourselves. Part of this is because one feat a DM has implemented is if you can read 3 languages of a certain alphabet (such as Sylvan, Elven and Aquan all sharing the Elven Alphabet), the feat will let you read any language with that alphabet. The feat would pretty much look like this Alphabetic Understanding (Elven)<>PRELANG:3,TYPE.Written.Elven<>SAB:You can read any language that uses the Elven Alphabet. And so on for each Alphabet. The other part is there could be other interesting twists to use. If need be, I'll do the work myself ^^ (Gee, selfless of me, isn't it?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Date: 2008-11-04 01:07 Message: Confirmed. I would prefer we use the Alphabet name without tacking on "Alphabet" at the end. The Alphabets are: Celestial, Common, Draconic, Druidic, Dwarven, Elven & Infernal Add a comment in the languages file listing the types and their purpose. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Fluxxdog (fluxxdog) Date: 2008-11-03 22:49 Message: In the RSRD, from SkillsII.rtf, under the Speak Language description, the first thing you see is a table of Languages, their typical speakers, and the ALPHABETS that those languages use. The addition I'm proposing would be altering the TYPE tag in the language file to... TYPE:Read.Written.Spoken.ElvenAlphabet ...or whatever alphabet as appropriate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Date: 2008-11-03 13:01 Message: We can implement this only if the information regarding Alphabets is within the RSRD, if not it is closed content and we can't include it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=750092&aid=2201001&group_id=25576 |
