King (kingpaul) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: PCGen renames custom variables Initial Comment: Per http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgen/message/93865 I have a gripe with the current program behavior. :p I have two VARs I have set up to track a new ability. Unfortunately, PCGen doesn't seem to like them. :/ The VAR names are SkillTrickPool (not even defined, just the pool name in the miscinfo.lst) and SkillTrickCount (defined in an ability). When I load the dataset I get the following messages and my data does not work like it should: Old syntax 'SKILLTRICKPOOL' replaced with 'SKILL.TRICKPOOL'. Old syntax 'SKILLTRICKCOUNT' replaced with 'SKILL.TRICKCOUNT'. I strenuously object to the program making changes to the way I've coded a file and causing it to not work because it assumes that what I have put in the data is meant to be something else. I realize I could change the names of the VARs, but we've been on a crusade to not let the program do anything automagically or on an assumption, so I really think it should be changed to not do this (or at least only provide a warning and not make a unilateral change that breaks things). Intractable in 5.11 without Code SB support. Set as 6.0 because this is fundamental operation in export token updates that were not declared deprecated in the 5.11 cycle. This therefore requires a full cycle (deprecate in 5.13, remove in 5.15) to complete. SKILL (and a bunch of other prefixes) are magical values. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384722&aid=1705340&group_id=25576 |
