Category: Cannot run application Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Vadlor (vadlor) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Not Running in Win XP x64 Initial Comment: When I try to run the program from the PCGen.bat file, it doens´t start. The DOS prompt closes immediately. I run the .Jar and it strats. But when I load the resources (one or ten, it doesn´t make a difference), it's CPU Usage climbs up to 99%, and freezes my system. I have a AMD Athlon 64, 3000+ 1.81 GHz, 2.00 GB of Ram. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: James Dempsey (jdempsey) Date: 2007-02-04 12:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=558288 Originator: NO Great to hear it is working for you now! Choosing the sources that are relevant does help to keep PCGen running smoothly. Given your system has a lot of memory, you could also consider increasing the amount of memory in pcgen.bat - it is the number after mx in the last or second last line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vadlor (vadlor) Date: 2007-02-04 12:13 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1706591 Originator: YES It´s working, it load from the pcgen.bat just fine now. Only thing that remains is it´s running a bit slow, but I think the problem might be I loaded too many sources. Thanks for the help! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: James Dempsey (jdempsey) Date: 2007-02-04 11:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=558288 Originator: NO OK, that means that Java has not been added to your computer's path. This is very similar to a recent support request: http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1631908 Please find where Java is installed on your system. Often this will be in a folder such as C:\Program Files\Java. Note the full path of the bin folder within your Java install. Now we need to update your path: Right click on "My Computer" and Select "Properties". On the "Advanced" tab, Click on the "Environment Variables" button. In the "System Variables" find "Path". Click "Edit" At the end of your Path entry, add a ; and then the path to your bin directory. For example if your bin directory was C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin, you would add the following: ;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin ***WARNING*** YOU MUST MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO SPACES AT THE BEGINNING OR END OF THE PATH!!!!! Windows doesn't like that, and it will cause Path lookups to fail. Once you've set your path, do the reboot thing then try go back and open a new Command Window (again, "Start->Run" "cmd" or Start->Programs->Accessories->Command Window) and **without changing your directory** run: java -version If that works, try to run PCGen again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vadlor (vadlor) Date: 2007-02-04 09:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1706591 Originator: YES Quote: "´java´ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: James Dempsey (jdempsey) Date: 2007-02-04 07:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=558288 Originator: NO Hi Vadlor, I have attached a debug bat file. Save this to your pcgen folder and run it to see what is happening when pcgen immediately exits. Could you copy the full output (right click and select "mark", select all text, right click select "copy" and then you can paste it in the browser) and report it here please? We can then try an diagnose the problem. Cheers, James Dempsey PCGen Code SB File Added: pcgen-debug.bat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vadlor (vadlor) Date: 2007-02-04 02:15 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1706591 Originator: YES Well, ?i ve downloaded the latest Jave Runtime and it still doesn't work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vadlor (vadlor) Date: 2007-02-01 01:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1706591 Originator: YES My PCGen version is 5.10.1 and Java is J2SE Runtime Environment Update 10, acording to my control panel.
