However, all the same points apply. In some cases it will not merely be a matter of adding an additional descriptor, sometimes, such as the case of Energy Substitution, it will be changing it. It appears that something is hardcoded somewhere. The only thing that specify that a feat is metamagic is the TYPE. BONUS is out of the question because we are not talking number here. It would have to be SPELLDESC or ADDSPELLDESC methinks. Syntax would look like this: "SPELLDESC:" <List of Descriptors> "|" <pretags> <List of Descriptors> := <Descriptor> { "," <List of Descriptor> } "SPELLDESC:.CLEAR" { "." <List of Descriptors> } The CLEAR syntax could be use to clear every descriptors or a subset of them. In the case of Purify Spell Trigger and Corrupt Spell they add the Good and Evil descriptors, likewise in the case of Energy Admixture. Don't see why it couldn't also apply a descriptor (or any other part of the spell tag) to it also. Question: Would it need to replace the current descriptor, add to the current or both? The problem is that I don't have any ideas how to deal the temp part of the deal. How can we change the descriptor only when a particular spell is prepared with the metatag? Maybe what we need is a more general way to attach a note to a prepared spell? Say, a way to add a description that will be stored in the .PCG file for the prepared book. Though this has the greater flexibility of being an on demand ability for the player than something that needs to be recorded by PCGen, so it isn't the best example. Something more appropriate would be Consecrate Spell-Like Ability, Purify Spell-Like Ability, Purify Spell Trigger in the Book of Exalted Deeds and Corrupt Spell and Violate spell in the Book of Vile Darkness are examples. Additionally, Energy Admixture and Energy Substitution (which actually changes the descriptor from one thing into another) from the Tome and Blood suppliment. Personally, in my own campaign setting there are items and material components that add or change spell descriptors. Further, I personally have two PrCs from opposing alignment spectrums that at lower levels have the ability to designate certain spells with a Good or Evil descriptor and at higher levels all their spells are marked as Good or Evil and those of the opposing alignment are prohibited. In the case of adding a descriptor, the metamagic feats (like nearly all others) must be specifically applied to a spell. Just as it increases the spell slot to a high level, the descriptor would appear in approriate column. In the case of changed descriptors (Energy Substitution), once again, it must be applied to a specific spell, so the descriptor is changed. I am happy to discuss this more or even help out as I'm pretty capable in Java.
