If you silently deprecate something then nobody knows it has been deprecated until it is 'obseleted' and no longer works. Deprecation is a warning that the feature is no longer used and will be removed at some point in the future so its use should be changed now to avoid future problems. I do not know of a system that uses silent deprecation. Even something like Java will inform you: "There have been uses of deprecated code. Recompile with deprecation turned on to see the details" if you do not want to see the deprecatation warnings. I would be quite happy with PCGen just showing a "There have been tags used that are deprecated, please run PCGen with '-deprecation' to see the details of these warnings". But not not letting the user know that there has been an error is a bad thing. - -- regards, Frugal - -OS Chimp === Paul W.
