Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) >Assigned to: Aaron Divinsky (boomer70) Summary: [KITS] Add ability to add other kits from a kit Initial Comment: There are actually two requests within this but they both relate to kits and they are geared to implement a specific data feature which I will explain, though they should have other uses. Request 1: a KIT: tag in a kit, this would add another kit to the PC from within the first kit. Request 2: enable the QTY: tag on GEAR lines to accept JEP formulas. Currentlly it only takes integers With these enhancments we may be able to implement adding random treasure to the default monster kits. Using the jep function roll("x") it is possible to use random numbers for certain things. I have found that you can use PREVARGT:roll("1d6"),3 to set a probability of the kit granting an item. If the GEAR tag QTY could be made to take JEP formulas it could also use the roll() function and then you could use it to grant a random amount of an item such as gold coins. If we had a KIT tag to add other kits from within a kit we could create the treasure tables as kits separately from the other kits, keep them not visible and call them as needed. We could even add a PRERULE to the treasure kit line in the default monster so the user could switch off and on the option to add treasure to his default monsters. This would also allow us to chain together a series of kits to act as multiple tables rolls. The treasure tables are made up of a series of die rolls on several tables on one table you roll tree times to see what you get and then you roll on another table for the specific thing. We might be able to tie all or at least the top tables into one kit which would then add the other kits based on PRE tags and random die rolls. So if a monster entry reads Treasure: Standard we could have a Standard Treasure kit which would roll up the treasure based on PREs and the monsters CR. The third piece of the puzzle here I haven't quite figured out, I found a way to set a probability for granting or not granting one gear item but we need to find a way to grant one item from a list like this: DEFINE:GrantedTreasure|roll("1d3") GEAR:Ruby PREVAREQ:GrantedTreasure,1 GEAR:Gem PREVAREQ:GrantedTreasure,2 GEAR:Art PREVAREQ:GrantedTreasure,3 I don't think you can use DEFINE in kits and I'd rather not create VARs for such a temporary use but you get the idea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Date: 2005-10-05 09:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=886893 assigning to Aaron to review. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384722&aid=1313829&group_id=25576 |
