uname -a would give that.

Did you follow http://www.mingw.org/MinGWiki/index.php/Build%20MSYS
instructions?  Many now have used them.

That's what I said, just different words.  I will consider any patch to
MSYS as something beneficial.  The cautions I must take are, does it break
in general and does it work on all platforms from Win98 upward.
