I think that anything which moves system oddities away from > core code of large projects like gcc is desirable. > Isn't that libiberty's job (which I thought was Mark's point) Anyway, if we are going to start adding more UNIX/BSD oddities to mingw, we need to have some policy about what is acceptable, what standard's documentation we follow and how the prototypes are guarded (or not) in headers I really don't want to see oddities like index polluting the namespace.
