[Mingw-users] Converting .lib files to .a

I am wanting to convert .lib files to .a files. The .libs were created using
Borland C++ 3.1 and 5.02. I have seen references on doing this on the
Bloodshed Dev-C++ forum, but have not seen a clear answer. Any help would be
appreciated.
