My installer very much likes version information resources, so if you want to add such a resource to the DLL or any other MinGW binary, I'll provide my way of doing that. Attached is these three files (and an example make file): resource.rc // The resource file holding the version information resource verinfo.h // Text defines for the string fields in the version information buildversion.awk // An awk-script which sets the version number and increases // the build number in verinfo.h The make file shows how I'm creating the resource object in my Windows projects.
