The latest beta available as ftp://ftp.simplesystems.org/pub/ImageMagick/beta/ImageMagick-5.4.6.tar.gz is the best choice. It should at least configure and compile using MSYS. I don't see how MSYS could possibly know if a path is being stored, and whether it should be in POSIX or Windows format. Paths stored in POSIX format are to support building and installing, while paths stored in Windows format are for use by the software which is built. ImageMagick's configure uses standard Autoconf macros to store string data so perhaps there is some hope. The support could go into the standard Autoconf distribution so that popular software would be able to use it in a few years.
