In mathematics you start reasonably near the bottom and work up. You don't ever tell a mathematics student to "just do something because it works". Well, some teachers do that and it makes me deeply angry. When a student asks "why?" you either tell them why truthfully or you say "That is complicated and I can't explain it to you yet." This is useful information and it's for reasons like this that I am using your method, as I already indicated in a previous post.
