Thanks, guys. make LD=gfortran did the trick. Hurrah!!!

I guess that takes care of this:
make -C ../Math77 -f Make.sub all
make[1]: Entering directory 
`/c/Users/Wayne/WrayFTPdownloads/Van-downloads/Meteor_2012-05-29/Meteor_2012-05-29/Math77'
ld -shared -o libMath77.so Least_Squares_Math77.o Math77.o ...

What gets correct in the ld -shared -o line that makes this work now.
