If you need to build a GUI, there's no better GUI builder than VS, unfortunately. Qt does pretty well, though. If you don't need to draw widgets, then any of the big IDEs are fine -- eclipse/CDT, devc++, codeblocks, etc. I would increase your selection criteria. For instance, what language will you be writing in? Will you be coordinating with other people? Will you need to use an autotools build system? That kind of thing. |
