Having implemented the --verbose option, and made default progress reporting significantly quieter, I've noticed a disconcerting side effect when performing a `mingw-get update' -- the `Load catalogue' messages, which had previously confirmed that the operation was progressing normally are no longer displayed at default verbosity setting. This may create a false impression that the process has hung, possibly for several minutes. To avoid this, I recommend running `mingw-get update -vv' when performing a catalogue update with this particular version of mingw-get; this will cause the `Load catalogue' messages to be displayed, as with previous versions. Future versions of mingw-get will not exhibit this failing; I've committed a patch to CVS, to ensure that progress reports for the update operation are displayed, regardless of verbosity setting. -- Regards, Keith. |
