My first thought when I read your original mail is that the dll was in use when you were trying to execute the strip command so the overlay of the temporary file to the original file failed. Unlike *nix you cannot overwrite a file that is open in Windows. However, you can open the file, mark it for delete on close, rename it and then create the original file name.
