Yep. The -bin package attempts to replicate the portions of coreutils which were (previously) provided by the "monolithic" msys installation. The -snapshot packages have always been "build and install everything" grab bags, and hence have always included more than the "stock" installation provided. The new -ext category is an attempt to harmonize the two schemes. Now, coreutils-bin is "the basic stuff" that the stock MSYS has always provided, and -ext contains "everything else". One of these days we'll document that stuff. -- Chuck |
