OK. Now I finally got it. I thought I would just have to point my path to where the MSYS make is and I would be able to use the Windows cmd when I should use the MSYS shell instead. Good thing is that I successfully compiled some C++ programs now. But how do I upgrade to the gdb 7.0 release then? I looked for the stable release and it pointed me back to 5.2.1. Again, all the thanks. Regards, Patrick ________________________________ From: Keith Marshall <kei...@us...> To: min...@li... Huh? How does cmd.exe associate you typing `make -v' with the program `mingw32-make'? It should be looking for a program called `make'. Are you sure you didn't try to run `mingw32-make -v'? (You said you excluded this from your installation, so it would be expected to fail thus). > However, if I enter make -v in the MSYS command line, I get GNU > Make 3.81. What seems to be missing? TIA. Nothing obvious, (except that the diagnostic you quote is not consistent with the commands you say you ran). If I repeat what you say you did, I see the expected result, (i.e. the MSYS `make' does run from cmd.exe, although you really should use the MSYS shell). BTW, gdb-5.2.1 is a museum piece, given that Chris released gdb-7.0.1 on our behalf, yesterday, (and there have been several 6.x releases, and also a 7.0 release in the interim period since 5.2.1). -- Regards, Keith. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Verizon Developer Community Take advantage of Verizon's best-in-class app development support A streamlined, 14 day to market process makes app distribution fast and easy Join now and get one step closer to millions of Verizon customers http://p.sf.net/sfu/verizon-dev2dev _______________________________________________ MinGW-users mailing list Min...@li...
